Default Thinking about getting this laptop.

    http://nashville.craigslist.org/sys/1900039591.html

I emailed the guy and he reduced the price to 100 dollars now. Then I looked for the MB and came up with this on ebay. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...tchlink:top:en

    100
    245
    80

I'm about to sell my laptop but I don't know how much it is worth right about now. I think I could sell it for about 250 or so which would help me break even on the mb at least. But yeah any advice would be welcomed.

    It's not worth it.

The craigs list ad says the video card might be gone as well.

The ebay motherboard does NOT have the NVidia MXM video card with it.

You could spend $245 + shipping for the motherboard and it still might not work!

Seems like a plan if you're sure you can fix it. Aside of a RAM update I never worked with a laptop before so I wouldn't really know how to do it.

    EDIT: Didn't notice above replies.
The Mega Drive was far inferior to the NES in terms of diffusion rate and sales in the Japanese market, though there were ardent Sega users. But in the US and Europe, we knew Sega could challenge Nintendo. We aimed at dominating those markets, hiring experienced staff for our overseas department in Japan, and revitalising Sega of America and the ailing Virgin group in Europe.

Then we set about developing killer games.

Not to mention he doesn't know if the video card works so how does he know it's the motherboard and not the video card in the first place? He doesn't. NVidia has had issues with notebook GPU's to the point there's a 50/50 chance it's the video card that's broken and not the motherboard. If the GPU has issues the laptop will struggle to power on or fail to POST and it looks EXACTLY the same as a dead motherboard. Most laptop motherboards have integrated graphics so a technician is likely to say "it's the motherboard" based on the symptoms and even if it was the GPU on most notebooks that would still be part of the motherboard. This is why he has mentioned that he doesn't know if the video card works or not. You can spend $245 + shipping on a replacement motherboard and there's still a good chance it won't fix the problem!

Of course I could always wait on my cousin to get something but that seems to take forever.

Maybe just risk it and if it's broken beyond repair try to sell the parts at ebay... ?

Good deal, sorry you don't have the ability to get a laptop, but I agree with MN12Bird, not worth the headache of troubleshooting and then the whole Windows fiasco. When I go looking for a laptop here's what I do (as a tech that can do my own repairs):

Look for one with a broken screen
Look for one with a busted mobo but good screen.
Put the parts together and got laptop.

don't do it. This isn't a desktop where you might be able to swap out the motherboard. I doubt you'll find a motherboard replacement from the manufacture for a laptop, (a desktop yes if it's not too old). But overrall you're looking at too much expensure here, and it be best for you to spend your money on a low cost laptop from NewEgg, TigerDirect, etc. , plus aren't retailers bundling Blu-Ray players with most laptops today anyways.

    Laptops suck, here is why:

    More likely to overheat
    Harder to fix
Hardware in desktop in the same year is better
