How did Treasure sell out?I know they're a little late with the Alien Soldier sequel, but you can't rush perfection.

It depends too, especially on the context of "modest" in general.
And of course, there's the benefits of alcohol in general (which are rather limited) vs the other effects tied to specific alcoholic drinks both positive and negative. (red wine has various additional properties -namely antioxidants- and you have certain forms of hard liquor with tendencies on specific negative effects -Tequila has a tendency to induce more violent behavior for whatever reason -I haven't seen any studies into any specific chemical cause for that though)

And in the case of medicinal (or recreational) use of marijuana, there's still every reason to avoid smoking it vs ingesting it. (the only difference really comes in the recreational case where smoking given a faster delivery system of such)

Plus there's second hand smoke: both in terms of the drug effects and lung damage to others. (smoking a joint is considerably more harmful than mass market cirarettes, of course there's a difference in moderation as well, and you don't see much moderation in the latter -but in cases of that applying to the former you've got a much worse situation in terms of smoke damage -home rolled unfiltered cigarettes or cigars will obviously be worse in several respects, though the chemical content of the material burned also matters substantially in the harmful/carcinogenic combustion products -hence why certain drying processes greatly reduce the risks of cigarette smoking -eliminating several dangerous chemicals formed while drying in other methods)

Of course use, like with alcohol is up to personal discretion as well. (with some exceptions to the case of 2nd hand smoke)
I haven't seen much moderate usage studies put forward about the effects of marijuana itself to compare it to. It's usually done by groups polarized between radically social conservative opinions, and those who believe it actually cures cancer when refined to hemp oil. It's two different types of 'crazy' as far as I'm concerned.
Use of hemp and use of marijuana are 2 totally separate issue though, at least from a realistic perspective. (politics and ignorant people may skew it, but they're very different issues) And again, you can have hemp that's totally useless for any medicinal or recreational purposes. (naturally occurring psychoactive cannabis was FAR weaker in that respect anyway, or even the general type of marijuana cultivated decades ago prior to some of the particularly strong stuff appearing in the late 70s and 80s -not to mention the heavier use of buds rather than just leaves)

That last bit is really important too, a lot of the really strong stuff can have a very significant effect on some people while less on others, though the same is true to alcohol to an extent, it's not completely the same issue. (ie people who can hold their liquor much better than others -regardless of body mass- and the same for certain drugs -and also people who tend to react differently when drunk in terms of some becoming violent vs goofy/sloppy/relaxed) The 2 may not correlate either, with people who can take a lot of alcohol not holding up to other drugs. (and in cases of anything smoked, you have those severely effected by second hand smoke -especially by stronger stuff becoming more popular in the late 70s onward vs some of the mellower stuff common in the 60s)
I could go into anecdotes on the topic, but this is dragging on as it is.

And my point wasn't that it shouldn't be legal either: it would definitely make sense to make it legal (certainly medicinally but more than that regulated like alcohol with some differentiation in certain areas), but also smoking regulations would fully apply across the board regardless (including medicinal use -as you're not limited to smoking for most/all medicinal use in any cases) and due to additional 2nd hand effects in the case of smoking in this case, there would certainly have to be additional restrictions there to some extent. (in many cases there wouldn't have to be much difference from current anti-smoking restrictions, but in some other cases there would need to be a bit more to address potential issues)

With the alternative resources, hemp could easily be grown anywhere and is highly renewable. With modern technology, it could be cultivated and refined efficiently to meet current product standards. A tree's a tree though. There's limits to what it can do for you.
Again, I don't think there's general legal issues (at least not on a federal basis) barring use of all forms of hemp from common use in the US, either that or it's just one more thing that CA made legal in spite of federal regulations. (given the various types of industrial hemp cultivated that have totally insignificant THC levels, that itself should be a non-issue)
Again, there's various other areas of renewable and alternative energy that are a mess in the US regardless among other areas of more efficient energy usage. (ethanol from corn is pointless and wasteful -sugar cane/beet crops are far more feasible though more limited in where they can be cultivated -but various stock for biodiesel production is far more practical -hemp oil would be a practical feedstock among various others, then there's other forms of biomass in general, hydrogen -including bilogical production, solar, wind, etc -that all have various degrees of use but limits as well, and I'd get into nuclear, but that's another topic altogether and totally dependent on creating a reliable, standardized and consistently regulated infrastructure -which is not anywhere close to happening, but France is the obvious poster child for regulation of such -and you have more complex issues there too)

But that's enough of that, this is way off topic and anythign more would be better in off-topic... though I'd imagine this has already been discussed quite a bit.

Some more personal hate, those damn people who compare games like Ghostbusters.

Personally i applaud them for making the game different for the PS2 and Wii,
sure the game could have just been downgraded but instead they made the whole game with a cartoonish look,
and you don't have to play it, you can just get the PS3 or 360 version if you want the real life look.

But still people are like :

Perhaps its some form of 2010 console wars manifestation, but it just irks me.

Personally as a Ghostbusters fan it made me happy that there are now two GB's games i can play,
sure they are technically the same game but the small differences are nice enough to warrant a 2nd playthrough.

But oh this world, always talking about the damn graphics...

OH NOES THE PS3 VERSION IS NOT AS GOOD AS THE 360 VERSION BECAUSE THE DAMAGE DONE TO THE WALLS USE LOWER QUALITY ART!!! OH NOES!!!!!

    @Neovamp:

As a fellow Ghostbuster fiend, I thought the way the developers handled the different versions was pure genius. Why try and make the PS2 and Wii versions, for lack of a better word, "Visually Realistic", leaving them open to unfair comparisons to the PS3 and 360 ones, when They can take a stylized approach to the game's graphics, and avoid the comparisons all together.
Well, that was the plan, anyways, it didn't seem to stop some folks from trying to compare them....

    @NeoVamp

Truly agree with that. The PS2 and Wii versions may have the same title, but they're entirely different games! Stop judging them on graphics! Damn graphic whores...

And I do hate when people say that the PS3 version of a game is inferior to the 360 version because of some small graphical effects removal or something like that

Another hate of mine: Shovelware. I just hate it, especially when over here almost every game you see on sale for the system is effin' shovelware. Of all the times in which I went to stores to see games, I never saw any good game (except for one or two RPGs and maybe Twilight Princess), only crappy minigame compilations, Disney Sing It!, Attack of the Movies 3D or PES 2010. Maybe they think that the Wii is all about party game or minigame compilations. But, why did they put Attack of the Movies 3D on those stores instead of something like House of the Dead: Overkill or the Gunblade/LA Machineguns double pack?

    There's the DS version too.

But it's not just a graphical change, but the PS2/Wii versions are generally different games with a much greater emphasis on puzzles/adventure than the PC/PS3/360 versions, plus there's a split-screen cop-op mode. (no co-op at all on 360/PS3 iirc, only vs multiplayer though the PC version supported network play co-op)

They're different enough to merit getting both versions (Wii is significantly better looking than PS2, so unless you really don't like the wii controls -no CG support- which are pretty good, or if you don't own a Wii you might want the PS2 version, but otherwise Wii is definitely better). So probably Wii and PC are the preferred versions, PC is also significantly cheaper than the 360/PS3 versions. (that's another plus for the PS2 version being the cheapest, but the Wii game is pretty reasonable too)

I haven't played the PC/360/PS3 game, but the Wii version is definitely a fun action/adventure/puzzle game in general, and from what I've seen of the other game, they're definitely both worth checking out.

You know, I always wanted to know how the PSP version was. Maybe it's something like the DS version, or a miniaturized PS2/Wii version port, or an entirely original game

I read that the PSP version is basically the same as the PS2 version.

and for those out of the loop, the PS2 version is pretty much the same as the Wii version, but without the remote/nun-chuck aiming.

    And now some more hate!.

I hate how Capcom ruined their take on the Lightgun genre, both Resident Evil lightgun games sucked balls!
the first one was confusing as fuck with all the extra crap they put in there (OMG DUCK TO THE SIDE)
and the 2nd suffers from that horrible "realistic" camera crap, which can be compared to watching Michael J. Fox playing DuckHunt.

And the boss fights are extremely bad, the camera moves like its drunk so you end up missing about 95% of the time,
which means you gotta shoot so often that you end up getting a cramp in your wrist, unless you have RSI like me
and the fucking game actually inflames it to a point where its been two days now and i still can't play anything due
    to the excruciating pain.

No Capcom, House of the Dead Overkill you are not.

I'll agree with on the first one, but the 2nd game was good,it was fun trying to aim with the moving camera, and I agree, HoTD Overkill is awesome.

Sega fans who complain about Nintendo's monopolistic 3rd party practices.
Sega's inability to yoke 3rd parties under exclusive deals.
Sega's inability to land a 2nd party deal.
Sega's failure to purchase Psygnosis and Wolfteam.
Sonic's disappearance between S&K and Colors.
Phantasy Star 4 as a cartridge game and Phantasy Star 5 as no more than an echo in the halls of my imagination.
    Microsoft.
Lack of offline multiplayer on current and future consoles.
    Incompetent voicing.
That KID and Taito are dead.
The PS2's memory card menu hell.
Gamers who whine about the Playstation controller.
    Gameplay clocks and activity logs.
The Dreamcast controller and the VMU beep.
The false advertising of the 8 and 16 bit days.
Recylced, real world music in place of anything original.
    Hitboxes.
    EA's incompetence at sports games.

I would be interested to see any evidence that alcohol usage increases the chances of cancer. If I were convinced of that it would probably be enough to get me to quit drinking entirely. I'm fairly confident that my laptop always planted firmly over my johnson and my cel phone always by my side, not to mention the HTPC, Home Theater and 15 game consoles plug in at once mere feet away, is more likely to expose me to cancer than alcohol does.

That said, I was fairly convinced by a random assertion that drinking "moderately" for ten years or more causes huge portions of the brain to basically go dead. But then, I've also been told that drinking a ton of water and milk thistle can cure liver disease.

At any rate, none of this relates to what I hate in the game industry. I don't think it is any secret that I actively boycott anti-competitive mega corporations whenever possible. This basically means that I will never own a Sony console past the PS2 (which I picked up used/broken), nor will I buy any EA games, nor will I pay for an iThingy. I tolerate Microsoft because their gaming division reminds me of the old Sega of America, and their impact on the industry has been relatively positive. Besides, their OS dominance is broken, and they are having to diversify or lose their massive revenue stream. If I hadn't just picked up an Android 4G phone I would probably be watching for Windows 7 phones.

That reminds me, Google and Facebook are damn scary.
