I never played any CoD games, but I hate the obsessed fans who can't name another game besides CoD

I guess I should say CoD fans are the ones that I hate.

Everyone who isn't a CoD fan hates CoD fans, and with good reason.

    - People that defend company practices that are bad for the consumer: gutting new game boxes, region locking, DRM, first-party control over software, etc..

    - The Pokemon generation running the gaming media and rewriting history like only Nintendo and Sony existed in the past.

    - People that think the reason for liking old games is just nostalgia, as if a good game suddenly stops being fun after it's been around a few years.

Part of the reason that the 3DS is probably going to be the last new console that I actually buy before I make the PC the only gaming machine I use is because of the stuff that companies are doing these days.

Things that I hate right now.

Day 1 DLC, and paid DLC for a game that isn't a substantial length. Back in my day if you tried that even on the PC you'd be laughed out of town.

    MegaMan Legends 3 getting cancelled.

EA's hate of Steam, just because they don't let them have enough control over their own DRM. And by control they mean they want the ability to delete a game off someone's account if they haven't played it in 6 months. I'm seriously considering not getting Mass Effect 3 because of that...

CoD games getting really high review scores, the equivalent of films like Apocalypse Now in the movie world, despite offering extremely lackluster stories and a recycled multiplayer from CoD4. I'm not really a person who thinks that a game needs to have a good story to be absolutely amazing, but the single player mode's half of the package here, if you're going to try and make them serious then they shouldn't suck and still get 8s and 9s!

Not getting the Fantasy Zone collection in North America

IGN, how do the people who work here actually get jobs?

Sony, and not really for the reasons that most people would assume. I don't really mind the DualShock, I'm not really fond of how loose the DualShock 3 Analog sticks are, but that's not really what I'm getting at here. They treat their customers like shit, and abuse the legal system to shut people down. Suing Lik-Sang for doing nothing more than selling Asian PSPs and PS3s to the European Market because they might get confused that they're not buying the European version of the console and won't be able to play European DVDs, BluRays ? The PSP's region free anyways, and I'm pretty sure they mentioned that the PS3s wouldn't be able to play Eu PS1, PS2, DVDs or Blurays anyways, so who the hell cares?
The PSN outage, suing Geohot for jailbreaking the PS3. Ok fine. PSN goes down and everyone's credit card information get's compromised and sony compensates people with free games. That's cool. Sony makes it so if you want to use the PSN you have to sign away your right to sue them for any reason at all. Right after this M$ and EA do the exact same thing. Pathetic.

Our Conservative Majority government. There's going to be a bill soon that makes jailbreaking of anything illegal. I'm not sure there's a whole lot I can do about this now...

    The Tester:
I already hate reality shows, they're always for of gaudy, loud mouthed, morons who are only there to create drama and get views. What really bugs me about this one in particular is that the prize on this show is for a position in the game industry. Sure it's not actually designing games, but the position that's for contest here could lead up to higher positions in the company.

They kicked Egoraptor off. No I'm not an obnoxious fanbooy who praises everything that he does, but there really isn't a single person that I would consider more qualified for that position than he is. His Sequelitis series demonstrates that he has a very good grasp of the philosophy of what actually makes a game good, something I don't think a lot of game designers even today seem to have.

This series of the Tester I think is a perfect metaphor for how the game industry is today. It's a lot like Hollywood to be honest. It doesn't matter how much talent, or good ideas that you have, or your ability to actually put them into the final product. Game companies don't care about any of that, they'd rather invest in a flashy, recycled, CoD like game that requires almost no effort to develop and to sell to the general public. I know that companies are supposed to make money, but you can make a lot of money and still have some kind of soul.

    God.

Now for some things that I actually like:

Agreed. I really hate what they did to bleem! and their bleemcast! product for the Dreamcast. Sony didn't win the case but they had enough money to sue bleem! repeatedly until they went broke. This was a great product. I have all three discs and would have bought more. They did more than make the games look better, they actually played better because the framerate and responsiveness were better. I can think of several Playstation games that really needed the bleemcast! treatment.

    I second that sentiment.

I hate those people. Games were made with overall higher quality back then(now It's only graphic quality companies, and many newer gamers seem to care about), so their claim is BS. Nostalgia my ass, I just like playing great games, thank you very much. If a awesome new game comes out, I'll buy that too, but while I wait for 1-2 years betwean the releasing of such game, I'll be playing the tons of greats that already exist.

Also I really don't grasp the concept of, well there's a new game out with a simular title, so no reason to play the old game anymore. Most of the times the original is better then the remake(which goes tripple for when they pull a reimagining BS move), and sequels are not always better, not to mention when you get past the 7th game in a series, It's pretty much all down hill from then onward(if the series even makes it that big without being destroyed before then).

No fans of particular games in general, but rather

Suits who tell gamers what games they like, games that remain Japan only because according to them we don't like that particular game.

We know what games we like, so give us them, don't tell us what we like and dislike.

Omg I hate those people, I've been fighting these dumb publishers over the false assumptions they make for many years, but sadly they seem to be too set in their ways. Hell some are so dense even after seeing huge petitions, an insane amount of people importing it exc, they still wont bring it over. To make matters worse, these are rather corrupt companies(if they don't want to make money off it, then they aren't gonna let someone else make money off it), that wont let another company localize it. If you want to make money then localize it, otherwise atleast let other publishers localize if they come foward, and want to bring it over.

A recent example that comes to mind is Operation Rainfall. Although Xenoblade did eventually get a release in US territories, and it's a really good game.

Some games have no reason to remain Japan only at all.

    I still don't understand why Nintendo didn't bring over Last Story(It's not a pure RPG, It's a action/RPG, so It's very shocking).

There's Bandai with them rarely bringing over anything that doesn't say Soul Calibur(on rare occassions they'll let someone localize, but sigh they always allow the companies that have no idea how to market/sell the games, instead of letting like ATLUS localize it. Basically Bandai lets the lowest bidder handle it, and then they complain that it didn't sell well).

Then there's the infamous Sega, they don't bring over anything that doesn't say Sonic basically, no Shining Force Feather or even 7th Dragon, which literally every other publisher wanted to localize, even Nintendo wanted to bring it over(and they chose not to bring over some of their own games, so you would think Sega would've got the hint. Well nope, they didn't want to bring it over, and they would be damned, if they let someone else bring it over. Really are they that dumb/lazy or do they not like making money. Sega excuse is omg It's too hard for the US gamer, meanwhile an insanely big fanbase is telling them otherwise, but Sega still doesn't understand).

PS. Well I imported the game, because Sega=fail, and It's really not that hard, it just doesn't hold your hand. There are many harder games in the US, and for the record, for the most part(there's some exceptions) US game are harder, including US versions of Japanese games for crying out loud(that's right, the games are made harder to appeal to the western market, so companies that try to claim a game is too hard for the US, are for it, they are just fishing for a excuse to not release the game).
