Most of PSX/Saturn Doom (and Doom 64) has some instrumental stuff to it, not just sounds, but there's not much actual *real* music so to speak, not even the overly "epic/cinematic" stuff you get in some others.
You get stuff like this:

And I don't mind that sort of stuff in a Survival horror game (not to much else that fits for long periods -some real music in some areas too), but not for action games -I do like the cinematic stuff in a few cases, but it depends on the game and you can still have good energy in orchestral stuff.
But Myst vs Return to Zork comes to mind in terms of ambient sound vs music+some ambient sound. (the floppy version of RTZ was all midi even, though the CD version had a mix of WAV and midi stuff -and oddly some WAV tracks that only had the midi renditions used in-game as well as other unused bonus tracks -of the midi stuff, I definitely had an affinity of the FM renditions, only OPL2 I think, but I still like it more than the general midi-I like most of the streamed tracks though)
But then at the title you get this:

It's almost like they were taunting you about the in-game soundtrack.

Even the credits music is more lively than some of the in-game tracks.
The title theme actually reminds me of the Adventures of Batman and Robin music:

and the title music to the SCD Batman and Robin game for that matter:
