    Media Sega Genesis: The Album

(And yes I love the irony of a American Sega Genesis album using a Japanese Mega Drive picture)

This is a project I've been considering. I want suggestions/links to songs you think you should be on a compilation of Genesis music. This is the 1st of a series that will have more albums if it takes off, so some rules will be in place for this particular album. If you like a song that doesn't fit in the rules, I'm planning other compilations so it'll eventually get it's time to shine.

    1. Background/title music directly from the game itself. No remixes or live recordings

    2. Must be from American released Genesis games. No 32X/Sega CD because I'm considering doing single albums for those unless it seems that a full 32X or CD one wouldn't really work.

    3. I'm trying to stick to 12-15 tracks, as in this could be a real CD you could burn and have if you wanted.

Others I'm planning if this takes off:

    32X: Mushroom Madness
    Sega CD: Spinning Sounds
A New Inspiration: Music influenced by Sega (Remixes/live recordings)
Rockin' With The Little Black Box: Music to play by (Songs you play during a session, or get you pumped for a game etc)
Mega Drive Megapack (European only titles. Not sure if this one's getting a full album)
The Beginning: Sega Mega Drive in Japan (Japan only titles)

So, yeah. This could be a giant train wreck and go nowhere, but I hope not. If we could eventually turn this into a giant music project It'd be pretty damn awesome! So, start throwing me ideas/downloads to see what makes it on the first album.

PS: If anyone has better album cover skills then please show me. I just realized the picture I used would work better on the influence one, so I'm willing to change it.

EDIT: A personal list so far. Not final by any means just my suggestions.

    Sonic-Marble Zone
Streets of Rage II- Level 3 Cave
    Earthworm Jim 2- Lorenzen's Soil
Outrunners- Travel Seaward (forgot this had a name until I randomly looked on Youtube just now)
Castlevania Bloodlines- Stage 4 (or Iron Blue Intentions according to Youtube)
    Beyond Oasis-Boundless Cliff ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TyHA_SZ15kc )
    Shining Force II-Dwarf Village
    El Viento-Stage 1
Wonderboy in Monster World- Underwater theme ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=og_L4KuHyig )

That would go in the "music influenced by" one. I was figuring it'd be a sort of Overclocked only thing but if someone on here threw me something they did and it fit, then it could go on easily. That'd be pretty cool!

I have quite a few tracks done on pure MD, both remakes and original creations.

Here's a selection of the better ones :

Don't forget Metal Squad from Thunder Force IV:

And one little note: make sure any and all tunes are recorded off a Model 1 MegaDrive or Genesis like in the video I linked(it's my own video, FYI). Most tunes that are available for download were recorded off emulators, which all get the sound wrong to a certain extent.

Other than various tunes from "Revenge of Shinobi" that have already been mentioned, my favorite music on pretty much any game is the intro and first level music from "The Adventures of Batman and Robin." The rest of the music may be awesome too, but I have no idea since I have yet to beat the second level boss!

Toss some Space Harrier in there. The main theme most definitely should be on the album if anything.

EDIT: Also, I decided to toss together another album cover just because I felt like it. Take a look:

    Looks pretty shit, doesn't it?
