The music sounds pretty much the same to me (but I was playing both in 60 Hz mode. Music seems slowed down compared to GG in 50 Hz). It's not that the screen space is smaller, the levels themselves seem to be very different between GG and SMS. From what I have seen, the level design is more straightforward in the GG version with less chances to use the hook (though it looks like the GG one gets more complex levels later). The GG one also westernizes the game with enemies taking extra hits and a life meter for Batman (the GG version allows for different batarang settings to adjust the distance and power, though). Graphics on SMS still look pretty good. I need to play both more for more of an opinion, but the life meter, enemies taking extra hits, and levels that seem to allow for less swinging on the GG, have me leaning towards SMS.

Only if you're suffering from depression. That game has one of the darkest palettes in any video game and while I accept they might have been going for gritty, I believe they went well beyond it and into the realms of requiring Prozac to play.

Batman Forever on the Saturn is awesome. I picked that up recently and had a blast playing it. It's quite different than the 16 bit versions, as the Saturn game is based on the arcade version (basically a beat'em up, but quite fun).

Played this one on PSX. And... it sucks. Graphics are once again digitized (for me it worked only three times, all three being Mortal Kombat games), the game doesn't have any good music, gameplay is too hard and you don't always know what the flipping heck is going on. Every time I think about this game I want to play some Streets of Rage to cleanse myself.

Honestly? I thought BF (hmm) was a garish mess on form (graphics) and function (gameplay). The game looks and plays like a gay icecapades on speed+shrooms.

In the span of 30 seconds, Batman and Robin go from shooting lightning out of their bodies, in a an orgasmic full-body manner, to beating thugs while the size of Herve from 'Fantasy Island'.

That's one of the game's restrained moments. Logistics seem antipodal to this mess.

Also, Chris O'Donnel. Just. Chris. O'Donnel.

It's like Joel Schumacher directed the video game as well.

Which was based on Titan, aka the Saturn arcade chipset. Much under-utilized, the most popular game to come from it was 'Die Hard: Arcade'.

Poor segue, but...here's a decent website dedicated to Batman games from this era:

    http://www.angelfire.com/film/batman...1/batman1.html

Don't agree with a lot of the reviews, but it gives a good outline of what's out there.

Some decent (and pretty popular) ST-V games:

Astra Super Stars (sequel to Waku Waku 7)
    Baku Baku Animal
    Columns 97
    Cotton 2
    Cotton Boomerang
    Decathlete / Athlete Kings
Dynamite Deka / Die Hard Arcade
    Funky Head Boxers
    Golden Axe : The Duel
    Groove On Fight
    Guardian Force
Hanagumi Taisen Columns : Sakura Wars
    Pebble Beach Golf Links
    Princess Kurara Daisakusen
    Puyo Puyo Sun
    Radiant Silvergun
    Sando-R: Puzzle & Action / Treasure Hunt
    Sea Bass Fishing
    Shienryu
    Soukyugurentai / Terra Diver
Suiko Enbu / Outlaws of the Lost Dynasty
    Tanto-R 'Sasissu!'
    Tecmo World Cup '98
    Virtua Fighter Kids
    Virtua Fighter Remix
    Winter Heat

But yeah, I agree there could have been (and should have been) more games. Sega got it right with Dreamcast and Naomi.
The Mega Drive was far inferior to the NES in terms of diffusion rate and sales in the Japanese market, though there were ardent Sega users. But in the US and Europe, we knew Sega could challenge Nintendo. We aimed at dominating those markets, hiring experienced staff for our overseas department in Japan, and revitalising Sega of America and the ailing Virgin group in Europe.

Then we set about developing killer games.

Batman - quite a good game with awesome music.
Batman Returns - for some reason, I had a lot of spare time when I was a kid, so much I actually sat down and beat this game. The game is very mediocre.
Adventures of Batman & Robin - one of the best 2p co-ops and run 'n' guns on the system with awesome graphic effects and heavy music that keeps you going. I played it when I was a kid, but picked it up earlier this year and beat it on my third play, so it is not too hard like many people say.

Batman and Robin is unbelievable--great graphics and gameplay, great music. I just find it ridiculously hard. But it is very cheap, making it a must own for me.
