You must be referring to the Backup cart. RAM carts are common enough aren't they?

    I got a 1X kicking around.

I don't usually bother with auctions that only use stock photos, but one time I got an absolute mint cib splatterhouse3 for 20 bucks. the listing only used a stock photo. it looked so nice I wonder if it was even played at all. It probably would've sold for a good bit more if the seller actually took a picture of it.

You got lucky. All the games I've ever bought from a stock photo seller turned out to be crap, with stickers, writing, screwed up labels, or occasionally corroded connectors. Now, I just don't bother with stock photo auctions, even if I might get a deal.

"Cart only games shouldn't be listed as "like new" , if a seller is gonna list a game as "like new" the game better be in near perfect condition and CIB"

I disagree with this. I mean a cartridge can look like new. If you list it as good or acceptable then people will think it's a piece of crap.

These guys on ebay that sell a large quantity of items tend to like to put a ton of unnecessary bullshit in their listings. Part of it has to do with the auto-fill description that Ebay uses. Whenever I list things I always choose to skip adding that info and just write out my own description.

Another thing that is annoying is that sellers will sometimes not even mention if the case and instructions are included. If Ebay wanted to make a useful feature they should also make it mandatory in all DVD / Game descriptions to put a Yes/No option as to whether or not they come with a case and manual.

I've been a seller on eBay for a long time, as far as I'm concerned they should ban the use of stock images.

People want to see what they're buying, and sellers that use stock images of boxed items then list them as disc only in some small print further down are scum.

My auctions are always very clear and honest:

I agree, but there is no way to keep sellers from just stealing a generic photo from some gaming site and using it for their listing. No way to keep people honest except they give their lives to the Lord Jesus Christ.

Yeah, the only way to be honest is to believe in the religion that I say is the correct one.

eBay rule #1: Never, ever, buy a game which has a "stock photo" for display.

yeah, it was definitely some good luck. the chances of that happening again is probably .0001 percent. I took a chance on it because at the time it was the cheapest one on ebay and I really wanted the game.

I'll still buy cartridge games that use stock photo if it's a good price. when it comes to loose carts I personally don't care about appearance as long as the game is playable. I won't take the chance on cd games though.

Ebayers: Dishonest by default, unless a fictional zombie has influenced their lifestyle and morality.

    http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...=STRK:MEWNX:IT

    Item specifics - Video Games
    Condition:
Very Good: An item that is used but still in very good condition. No damage to the jewel case or item cover, no scuffs, scratches, cracks, or holes. The cover art and liner notes are included. The VHS or DVD box is included. The video game instructions and box are included. The teeth of disk holder are undamaged. Minimal wear on the exterior of item. No skipping on CD/DVD. No fuzzy/snowy frames on VHS tape. See the seller’s listing for full details and description of any imperfections. See all condition definitions

So i'm thinking im getting this CIB. Low and behold i'm suppose to go down further to read what i'm actually getting which is a disc and a generic jewel case. So i'm pisse the fuck of because I have to read 2 descriptions instead of one. I would've been better off buyting this one instead.

Once you figure out what the eBay checklist bubbles are, they're easy to spot and scroll past. They can only get so specific, which is why you should always check the actual description written by the seller and ask any questions to confirm before buying (especially when no original photos are included) if the description doesn't get very specific.

The easiest way to sort through listings like that is 'if it's too good to be true' it almost always isn't what you hope and if it's a vague listing from a bulk seller, then it's always loose/incomplete unless explicitly advertised otherwise.
