Default Help me identify which Atari system I've played?

    Hi,

I remember I already played to an Atari system (Not portable, home console), but I really don't remember which one it was, I would like to know... It was at my grand-mother house, don't know if she own it or if it was my uncle who bring it to the house, because I remember we had an hard time hooking it up. Yes, we also had the box, but don't ask me, I don't know what it look like.

For sure, this was not a Jaguar. Maybe a 2600 Jr.?
The only clues I have is that I played a compilation of a few games on a single cartridge, the only one I clearly remember being Adventure.

Anyone know this compilation? Maybe sending screens will help to remember a few games.

    Thanks!

    Adventure is a 2600 game.
A Black Falcon: no, computer games and video games are NOT the same thing. Video games are on consoles, computer games are on PC. The two kinds of games are different, and have significantly different design styles, distribution methods, and game genre selections. Computer gaming and console (video) gaming are NOT the same thing."

And the 7800 can read the 2600 cartridges too; I don't know if it was a 2600 or 7800; perharps I would have recognised the system if it was a 2600, because I saw pictures of it many times. But I never knew about the 2600 Jr. since today! It's a possibility.
I think I'll check the Atari boxes. Maybe I'll remember.

What timeframe was this from, 80s or 90s?

Don't recall ever hearing of an Atari compilation/multi cart. Are you sure it had multiple games on a single cart? Adventure is definitely a VCS game, but playable on 7800 as well. Trouble is that the 2600 jr., Sears Tele-Games II (2800), and 7800 all looked highly similar in shape and size, so pictures of any of those will probably strike a cord with you. Do you remember the controllers? The 7800 ones were definitely different that the CX-40's that came with VCS. Tele-Games II had a combination stick/paddle arrangement on a single controller.

Need a little more detail to help...

I'm pretty sure this is a 2600, or any variant, like the Jr.
I remember a bit the controller, seing it in videos, and I do really think it is this one. It's simple. Really. It's just that if it was the original 2600, I'll have recognised it; is there any other model of the 2600, the Jr for exemple?

I wont be able to tell you when she got it. I played to it in 2003-2004?? That doesn't help at all.
But this box do tell me something:

    http://home.olemiss.edu/~badwf/2600box.gif

Yes, I'm pretty sure it is a 2600 by now. And yes, I remember I was not switching the carts.

I'll ask it to my uncle. Maybe he know. Maybe we still have it?

EDIT: Yep, it's not the big 5200. I would not forget this, if I ever saw this huge console! And Adventure is not a 5200 game. Oh, and thanks for the picture. Never found any mesures comparison of the 5200. I'll save this pic'. ^^

    EDIT: E-mail send.

A lot of games had "compilations" in the sense of may game modes: Combat for example had variations of tank, biplanes, and jets.

I think someone, somewhere tried to port Adventure to the Atari 5200, with some 5200-ian results.

Adventure II was published on the Atari 5200.

I'm sure it's not what you're looking for, but 5200 does have an adapter to play 2600 games.

A lot of games had "compilations" in the sense of may game modes: Combat for example had variations of tank, biplanes, and jets
I don't think this is the type of compilation GameX had in mind. There was a semi-official multicart and numerous pirate multicarts were made. It was specifically said that Adventure was a game in the cart. Anyway, it's possible if the system was strange, that it could be a 2600 clone (numerous ones were available, even an adapter for the Colecovision to play 2600 games and a stand alone clone from Coleco called the Gemini. There were also various pirate clones)?

Here is some info on one of the semi-official multicarts (published by Atari, but has somewhat questionable games on it). No Adventure on this, though.

No, it's not the 32 in 1, but possibly a clone, or simply a 2600. It's not a 5200, it wasn't so big, and I never played with that strange controller.

Maybe we'll know when I'll get a reply to the email.

I had no idea there was a console that was bigger than the giant sized XBOX 1.

Probably doesn't help that the last 3rd of the 5200 is devoted to controller storage.
