    N64 What's on the N64 "default" cartridge?

    Hi,

    I always wondered...

    http://glothelegend.files.wordpress....02/slide11.jpg

What is on this cartridge?? It's the cartridge that came with a brand new N64, right?
I don't know, because I bought mine used (Boxed, however), at 70$ (My Dreamcast was cheaper. XD) back in... 2001-2002, I guess... It didn't had that cart; guess it was a Memory Card manager, or some sort of menu??

Because it seems you can't check or erase any data on a N64 memory card...? So when it's full... It's full! XD

    Thanks!

It's just a cart made to look good on photos.
The Mega Drive was far inferior to the NES in terms of diffusion rate and sales in the Japanese market, though there were ardent Sega users. But in the US and Europe, we knew Sega could challenge Nintendo. We aimed at dominating those markets, hiring experienced staff for our overseas department in Japan, and revitalising Sega of America and the ailing Virgin group in Europe.

Then we set about developing killer games.

    XD
I did thought about that. :P

So it just do nothing when you insert it in your N64?
It's like a... Yes, like the blank GBA cartridge, when you buy a brand new DS. It's just to... fill the slot. XD

And N64 memory card files can be deleted like any other console memory cartridge.

Oh, you mean from the game directly. ^^"
Well, there's no way to view all your files at once, and to know how much space do use a game.
I find this a bit annoying. Even if I don't play often to the N64.

Ah yes; the problem I had, when I bought my N64, it came with a full Memory Card if I'm right; but I didn't have the games on the Memory Card to erase the data, however. So I had to buy another one, not knowing if it was full. I was lucky, it was not, and I do believe it still have space.

Insert a game cartridge. Hold the start button and turn the game on.
The memory card will come up and you can delete what you want.

IIRC, the cartridge needs to already be compatible with memory cards in order to load the memory manager. For instance, Wave Race 64 has it, but I don't think Mario 64 does.

No, it did not come with the original N64. It's a unique thing made for the photo.
