    Default PS2 Backward Compatibility Status

I just got a PS3 system out of Layaway it's the 80 gig one

2 games list on http://us.playstation.com/support/compatiblestatus/ as of 10/11

    Samurai Shodown Anthology
    MotorStorm: Arctic Edge

This game isn't compatible with the console you've picked. Try another one?

Yet..it worked on my system with no trouble

Did Sony Update the Firmware so it could work & forgot to update there PS2 Backward Compatibility Status

Probably... I think the PS3 really sucks at PS2 and PS1 games. The "SMOOTH 1080p" enhancement is total shit! They should have increased the resolution natively in the game! Rather than these 320X200 blurry games! At least to 480p would have been nice! And Parappa the Rapper for PS1 and Parapper the Rapper 2 for PS2 completely lag on the PS3! WTF SONY!!!

Yes, for the older 80gb models with BC, it's possible those games were added via an update since the BC in that model is software based.

Or...it is possible the games came out after the last updates? Not tested, or just happen to work?

I have a slim 120 gb, which unfortunately is not ps2 compatible (I believe only the 20 & 60 gb models are), but the ps1 emulation is excellent.

If I were to ever get a PS3, it'd have to be either a 20 or 60GB model. Nothing else is acceptable to me.

I think the 20GB and 60GB feature the Emotion Engine chip so it's the actual PS2, then the 80GB one is B/C but they nixed the chip so it's emulation software.

i would assume it was simply not fully tested.

Excellent, yes, but less compatible than the PlayStation 2's backwards compatibility, be it the fat or slim model(inferior on the fat as there are some games with speed issues). I can't even play V-Rally 2 on my 250GB slim PlayStation 3. I could play all my other original US PlayStation games(my others are either imports or backups), but this one crashes as soon as the Infogrames logo shows up(game becomes unresponsive and there's a graphical error at the top-right corner of the screen on top of a long diagonal line that runs almost halfway through the screen). Are there any other PlayStation games that do this on the PlayStation 3?

And I don't know if it's just me, but it seems there is some lag in the controls when upscaling the games. Is there?
