Default EVer review games on Gamefaqs.com?

    http://www.gamefaqs.com/features/rec...55.html?type=4

LOL I did all of these on my Dreamcast back in 2001. It's funny to read all the bad grammar and misspellings on here.

Yeah, I posted a few reviews and looking back on them they're not too good.

Here's a Castlevania Bloodlines review that someone put on one of the forums(brace for stupidity):

"From what I understand, Alucard is the one that made Eric's weapon, the spear, right? And then he gave the spear to Eric, didn't he? Well, why would he do that? Are the names related, or purely coincidental? I don't remember Alucard making spears for anybody in Castlevania III or Symphony of the Night, let alone giving them away to people who don't share the Belmont/Belnades/Morris surname. What happened here?

By the way, I just beat this game for the first time. My main impression is that the game is way too hard. This is exacerbated by the fact that you have only three continues, whereas all the other Castlevania games are hard but give you unlimited continues. The game isn't hard in the sense that it repeatedly kicks your ass like III or IV do. It's hard in the sense that it seems really easy at first, but for some reason you just keep making stupid mistakes that get yourself killed. I don't know why, and I really can't explain it. I feel like Bloodlines is statistics and III/IV are calculus. They're hard for different reasons. Bloodlines is hard and you're not really sure why it's hard because it's supposed to be easy, and III/IV are hard because they're just hard. I even played the game on the easy difficulty and with five lives per continue, plus I'm an experienced Castlevania vet.

That is my main complaint. I have a few other minor complaints as well. Like how this game isn't on a Nintendo console. Sad, but true. Wouldn't be as much of a complaint if it were on the Virtual Console though, which it's not for some reason. Also, they really seemed to have been trying with the story by introducing a Morris and LeCarde and this Elizabeth Bartley character, but they went nowhere with them until later games! I also wasn't a fan of five-directional whipping, especially after the eight directions as seen in Super Castlevania IV. Why be wishy-washy? You can whip straight down but not diagonally down. You can whip diagonally up but not straight up.

And another complaint is that the game is too short. Not much longer than the original Castlevania, which is pretty pathetic. The limited continue system basically guarantees that you won't be spending too much time on one playthrough. It also seemed to try to add artificial difficulty sometimes. I'm used to being knocked into a pit by a weak enemy and dying with otherwise full health plenty of times from older Castlevania games, but the consequences are nothing in those other games where your score only resets to zero. I was also never able to figure out how to swing from the ceiling with LeCarde; I had to commit suicide until a Game Over so I could switch to Morris. Speaking of those characters, Morris has a ridiculous strut for his walking animation.

Now for the good parts. The music is great. I would expect nothing less from Michiru Yamane of Symphony of the Night fame. The graphics are all right; I haven't really played any other Genesis games, so I don't know what I'm comparing this to. The Super NES Castlevanias I guess, although I'm not sure whether that would be a fair comparison. It has more similarities to the classic Castlevanias than Dracula X for sure, and arguably Super Castlevania IV as well. Traveling around Europe to fight evil was a nice touch, though a bit nonsensical at times. That reminds me, why were there only six levels that were basically as linear as the original Castlevania? And why was I fighting all the bosses again like a Mega Man game during the Death battle?

Anyway, the game is all right, but not amazing. I'd give it 6/10. Biggest complaint is the limited continue system (this isn't Contra, Konami...) and the Sega thing. Sega should stick to making games like Valkyria Chronicles in my opinion. I liked this game more than Dracula X, but not more than Super Castlevania IV. In my opinion, is this game a classic? Not really. Is it a worthwhile adventure for any Castlevania fan? Definitely.

Ah, another thing. I absolutely hate the sounds that John makes when he jumps and whips. The NES had better sound effects than this, come on. Overall, I'd give this game a 6/10. For a game that's an hour long, it's still slightly better than average, and I'm not rating it by 2010 standards either. It's just that the limited continues and being on an unfamiliar game console killed a lot of the appeal for me; otherwise, the game might have made a 7 or an 8."

Not exactly on GameFAQs, but I did some reviews on GameSpot years ago (under the account "killerbrothers", since it was originally made by me and my brother). Looking back, they were pretty awful. My first ones were done in Spanish (complete with some terms we Argentinians use), then later ones were done in English (in really awful English; I was still learning the language back then). I think that the ones I did in 2008 were an improvement over those I made on '06 and '07. I never did reviews anywhere else ever again, although I did do a review on MobyGames last year about Earthworm Jim 2's GBA port.

You know, now that I remember I talked about this on one of my very first posts. I should look it up.
