The only thing I have stopped collecting is for the CD-i, and not because I was bored but rather totally turned off by such a hunk of junk system.
So far boredom has never kept me from picking up a common this or that. Nope, never boring.

NES collecting became a massive pain in the ass and finding CIB games in acceptable condition became very tedious, and I slimmed my collection down from 400+ titles to under 50 of my favorites.
Got sick and tired of Saturn collecting in 2003, I sold off a complete PAL collection and over 200 JP Saturn titles as well as most of my hardware.
In 2006 I began collecting Saturn again.

I get bored with collecting for a certain system every few months or so. Up until a few weeks ago, I was still focusing on my Genesis/MD collection until I got a little bored with it. Now I'm turning my attention towards my Famicom and (to a lesser extent) MSX collections.
