Yeah, except they canceled it for good reason... the same reasons that Nintendo put strict use guidelines and warnings on the Virtual Boy.

Interesting to see how diverse the CD games being advertised are, no Silpheed on there but perhaps that was later in '93.

    Thanks for the upload!
Matrix Runner looks pretty cool, shame it wasn't released.

Interesting seeing SoR3 mentioned; this catalog was most likely published during Spring/Summer 1993; SoR3 didn't come out in the U.S until a full year after this was published, sometime in June-July 1994.

What does hosting a zip file of all these pics have to do with the Sega VR Glasses/Virtual boy?

What stage is that in the Final Fight CD stage?I've played Final Fight in the arcade, but I've never seen this stage.

    Less talk more action!

Some cool catalog. Thanks for sharing!
It's always good to see screen of prototypes and unreleased games. I wonder why city level wasn't in final version of Desert Demolition.
And is it only me or sonic's sprite look a bit different in those Sonic Chaos screens?

It's one of the stages for time attack in Sega CD port. Non animated and with such parallax which creates a wrong feeling of depth.

I appreciated that they listed the size of the games on the Genesis and the Game Gear. Would have been nice to have seen the size of the Sega Cd games though

It is the Sega CD's specific time attack mode/level.

You forgot to scan the clothes section. Also, the appliance section would have been nice.

Many thanks to you Hashiriya1, as I throughly enjoyed being able to read a piece of Sega history!

It was surreal to see the gamut, from then-current games to extremely premature previews{like the Streets or Rage 3 blurb vaguely mentioning a character named Bass...sorry kids, that's the Mega Man X series}.

I, too mourn the loss of the Sega VR, as the Genesis had/has so few peripherals{that being said, I'm probably one of the only people out there who shed a tear when the Virtual Boy flopped}.

I buy peripherals largely based on if they support games made especially for them, and am sad to hear that the Activator was slated to have such software.

Without Air Drums or Bounty Hunter, it joins the ranks of other 1980's/90s-era accessories which crashed and burned{and only served to 'enhance' existing titles, sans bringing any exclusive software to their respective console libraries}.

To that end, the Activator is more akin to the U-Force and Roll N Rocker than to the Menacer or the Super Scope.

I wish Monster Hunter had come out for Menacer.

Wow, that was a lot of scanning! Good job!

I forgot all about that VR headset. I don't remember that ever coming out, that's too bad.

Funny about the Activator. "Multi-Million dollar campaign in 1993" - too bad it failed miserably.
