It's taken 12 replies to mention the Fate of Atlantis? Boy I'm glad I'm not into Star Wars (Strange, I know, a self-confessed scifi nut who isn't into Lucas' cashcow).

That being said, I did enjoy Dark Forces 2, whatever its title was. Jedi Knight? It was a good fps, for the time, before HL1 destroyed everything that came before it.

Jedi Knight. Jedi Academy for pure multiplayer though.

That would be too easy, because it would win every time. There hasn't been a better adventure game and I doubt there ever will be than Fate of Atlantis. I didn't really care about X-wing even though I bought it when it first came out. Battle of Britain and SWOTL on the other hand were top-notch. Still have my original Amiga version of BOB. Oh the good old times when Microprose and Lucasfilm made hit after hit. And now we get shit like Blazing Angels and whatnot.

Knights of the Old Republic II it plays 100 times better than the first game.I played it 6 times over to completion.

    Less talk more action!

Interesting... I played the 'original' X-Wing which came on Diskettes. I never heard about an extra Death Star mission exclusive to the CD release. Secret Weapons of the Luftwaffe was THE first Computer Game I ever played (funny story about that, I'll save it for a thread someday).

My vote is for X-Wing, Tie-Fighter, and SWOTL. Fav FPS would be Dark Forces.... playing that on my old P. 133 Laptop (back in '97) at Military School on rainy days was the best.

I read about KOTOR for a couple weeks before installing it (I have the 'Best of Lucas Arts Games' pack for PC er something or other, can't remember the name), and upon attempting to setup the controls I put my hands up in pure frustration (it was installed for a mere 5 mins).

I've NEVER seen a FP or 3rd Person game with SO many fucking controls.

The premise of the game (still) sounds amazing to me, an RPG in the Star Wars universe with a decent looking engine sounds like a winner to me.

WTH did there have to be more controls than a typical Simulator though

Hell, even GameTrailers put Tie Fighter towards the top:

in 2nd place ahead of KOTOR and behind Jedi Outcast.

That's a pretty good list they have, but I can't agree with ESB on the 2600. ESB is a very repetitive title, just like most of the 2600 games.
A Black Falcon: no, computer games and video games are NOT the same thing. Video games are on consoles, computer games are on PC. The two kinds of games are different, and have significantly different design styles, distribution methods, and game genre selections. Computer gaming and console (video) gaming are NOT the same thing."

    Ahh, the memories...
I really like SWA32X, but it's not my favorite Lucas game. Ditto for E1 Racing.

After reading some of the posts I did forget some games. Other Lucasfilm-based titles that I like/love are Star Wars Arcade (the 1983 Atari one and the 32X one), LEGO Star Wars and LEGO Indiana Jones, Indiana Jones: Greatest Adventures, Dark Forces and Jedi Knight

Well shit... you know what... I played that. I didn't remember what it looked like in my head when I read your post but after seeing those Square Turrets... oh yeah, I played that. Mine was definitely a 4 or 5 diskette set. The 3.5"ers.

Watching that vid brings back a lot of memories. I can't believe LucasArts won't simply "redo/remix" both X-Wing and Tie-Fighter with newer engines.. leave the games exactly as they were mission for mission (maybe with a couple new things here and there). They'd sell like hotcakes.

*edit* - I noticed at the end of the Mission it said, "back to trainer ship"... that was just a Training Mission... not part of the Storyline.

    Ahhhh... there we go

I had the B-Wing EXP... not sure if there was another expansion in my collection or not. I don't remember having Imperial Pursuit.

    Good times eh

That's the final mission of Tour of Duty 3, which appears as a mission in Historic Combat after you beat the mission. The reason why you saw that it was a training mission is because the player already beat that mission in Tour of Duty 3. If you were to play through that mission while in the Tour of Duty, you would see the Death Star exploding. Both the floppy disk edition and Collector's CD-ROM editions of X-Wing contain this mission. I know this as I have both versions.

And my votes for best "Lucas" games go to:

    -Star Wars X-Wing
    -Star Wars TIE Fighter
    -Star Wars X-Wing Alliance
    -Star Wars Rogue Squadron
    -Star Wars Rogue Squadron II

Mayny Argue Tie Fighter (some XvT+BoP -few XW Alliance) is better and Tie Fighter is definitely a more complex and advanced game, but I haven't played enough of the DOS version to really comment.
The windows ports of both games are no good though... too much altered, especially the music (original dynamic midi tracks replaced by looping streaming audio), plus Tie Fighter in DOS already looked pretty damn good in max detail (high model detail, gouraud shading and texture polygons enabled, and 640x480 res mode).

And I thought the Floppy version had all the extra stuff available via expansion packs. (aside from the voice/graphics and improved midi exclusive to the CD version)

One of the other Star Wars 2600 games maybe more so, or better yet the Star Wars Arcade game (though ESB is arguably better -I like it more personally). They did include Trilogy Arcade, but if they were going to do anything Atari related, it should have been the arcade game. (too bad the A8/5200 port was a bit weak -OK, but could have been much better if it used wireframe software rendering like many other home computer ports did -especially given what the BBC Micro managed -with the A8 CPU not much slower and the resolution being significantly lower as well)

Episode 1 racer is better on the PC and I think the DC (which is a port of the PC version)... better graphics, better framerate, better sound, and (most importantly) better controls.

In the DOS CD versions there's a pre-completed "Topaces" player file with a maxed out score, so you can already play all the historical combat missions. (and view all cutscenes)
