Default Series that started on the Master System and Saturn...

    Hey!

If one day I manage to find a cheap Power Base Converter 1, I'll want to get some Sonic games on the SMS, and games that started on the Master System. For exemple, I can think of these games, which are not availible on the Genesis:

    - Alex Kidd in Miracle World
    - Phantasy Star
    - Space Harrier (?)

I know there's more of course... What are they?
And at the same time, who know the series that started on the Saturn? Many, many, many, huh?
Don't know many Saturn games, but I know these:

    - House of the Dead
    - Sega Rally
    - Resident Evil (Also on PSX and N64)

And... That's all. Yep, I don't know Saturn games that much.

    Any others?

    Thanks for sharing.

Saturn Bomberman, Shin Shinobi Den aka Shinobi Legends, Story of Thor 2 aka Legend of Oasis, Guardian Heroes, Golden Axe: The Duel, Clockwork Knight 1 & 2, Panzer Dragoon Zwei, etc. pp.

Honestly though I can't recommend a Saturn to someone who doesn't have much money. If you plan on buying one make sure that you get a modified one that allows you to play backups so you can test the games prior to buying them.

Also games like Resident Evil originated on PS1 and by now there are better versions available (like on Game Cube if I remember correctly).

Sega Rally is also available for Windows and PS2, and there's also Sega Rally 2 for Dreamcast and Windows. - Although the Dreamcast version requires you to use cheat codes to get the most out of it: http://www.sega-16.com/forum/showthr...196#post173196

The Mega Drive was far inferior to the NES in terms of diffusion rate and sales in the Japanese market, though there were ardent Sega users. But in the US and Europe, we knew Sega could challenge Nintendo. We aimed at dominating those markets, hiring experienced staff for our overseas department in Japan, and revitalising Sega of America and the ailing Virgin group in Europe.

Then we set about developing killer games.

I won't buy a Saturn, well, not now. This is probably the Sega console that I know the less games. The only games I know by heart are Sonic Jam, Sonic R, Sonic 3D... Sega Rally, House of the Dead, ResEvil, Nights... I think that's it. Those are the games that'll buy. So Saturn pass.

If I have to buy another retro console soon, sure thing, it'll be a SNES. With this console, I'll have all the consoles (Not counting the portables) of Nintendo. Ahem, without the Virtual Boy. Don't want that. XD

Btw, an alternative to the Power Base Converter would be the Everdrive flash cart which is compatible to both Mega Drive / Genesis and Master System games: http://www.sega-16.com/forum/showthread.php?t=11013

A list of good Master System games: http://www.sega-16.com/forum/showthr...066#post290066

For the Saturn there is also Burning Rangers, even though it never got a sequel...

Sorry, I meant to say: "Some good Saturn exclusive games are:"

Miracle Warriors and Golvellius didn't start on the SMS. They both started on JP computers like the MSX (Aleste also came to the MSX before the SMS). Fantasy Zone started in arcades and it has two different NES ports, one for NES and one for Famicom. Golden Axe Warrior borrows quite a bit from Zelda 1, but it is SMS exclusive.

One thing about the Saturn is that it's very easy to import for (Action Replay 4m plus does the trick) and some imports are cheaper than the US counterparts (Nights is constantly sold at inflated prices in the US).
