The worst part is there is so much potential in 2D,the industry just abandoned 2D technology for cheaper 3D tech. They say with it so easy to make game engines now that they would spend more time actually making games, but a lot of games still suck,I don't get it.

    Less talk more action!

I know, It's sad(companies don't seem to care that 3D has limitations) sigh.

What I don't understand though, is why are the graphic whores ok with that, because aside from the gameplay aspect limitations, 3D graphics wont look as good as 2D graphics either.

The hatred for all this, everything must be 3D BS should be shared by pretty much every type of gamer

I want Sega to re-enter the market with a host of in-house launch titles (or others if they can get rights) that are updates to highly-regarded franchises of the past:

    Phantasy Star
    Shining Force
Sonic (along the lines of Sonic 4, or Colors if successful)
    Shinobi
    Streets of Rage
    Ecco the Dolphin
    Ristar
    Nights into Dreams
    Shenmue (perhaps?)
    Shadow Squadron

You get the idea. Move the Conduit games over to that as well, as that seems to be working well. Combine a solid showing from titles such as these along with a plethora of third party games and Sega could be in good shape again - as long as they don't eff up their marketing.

Yea, like ******* 7th Dragon, the fan base for that is so huge now, the Japanese must really be morons not to bring such over.

Oh, and I still don't understand why Sega wont release the new Shining Force game(you know what hurts more, is that the new game went back to the real format, so we really do want it bad).

The formula for those games is good and done well, it would attract younger gamers as well as appease the old.

What I want is an arcade cabinet with a bunch of Shoot-em-Ups in their original format, in other words, the original board(Gradius, Salamander, Life Force US, Life Force JP, Gradius II, Gradius III, Gradius IV, Salamander 2, Xexex, R-Type, R-Type II, Galaga '88, Raiden, Raiden II, Zero Wing, and many, MANY others).

And another cabinet with some Sega Model 3 arcade games that were never ported(Daytona USA 2 Power Edition... ah yeah...).

I would also like to see a "Gradius Ultimate Collection" come out sometime with every single Gradius game ever made put onto a single disc(home ports included). I'd pay Konami good money for that.

Alright. Here we go. I want all of the old game companies that ever made one good arcade/action game to team together and make a home console. This home console would be at least equivalent in capabilities to Atomiswave, if not better.

If these companies have lost the talent (*cough* Sega/Konami *cough*)they once employed they will spare no expense getting them back at least in an advisory/testing role. If these companies are still in business, every penny they make from mass market tripe software on the 360/PS3/Wii/PC/Cellphones will go towards designing new games based on their best old school software for this new hard-core console.

The system would be marketed by the consortium as hard-core only, advertising would say something to the effect of "Core/Casual gamers need not apply". Every good game, 2D or 3D, ever made that was Action oriented and shunned "presentation" as it is seen today (cinematic quality) would receive a full budget remake. These remakes would have new graphics engines in the original style, but would play and sound similarly enough to the originals to feel familiar. No 3D remakes unless the original was 3D.

After the consortium completed this blessed work, they may delve into making totally new action games with their monopoly on industry talent.

I really just want them to make that psIV remake and port it to xbox 360 in the u.s.

Or possibly a new 2d metroidvania for a home console. A real one, not like that multiplayer thing they just released.

I would love to stop flamewars about systems that were out 20 years ago. That's about it.

Sure, but it needs to evolve in regard to flame wars from name calling and incendiary phrases to fact chucking.

I 222% agree on both of these.
