Yeah he changes intoa guard, walks over to the guard, and walks back to me, and nothing changes. I went back up the stairs and down, nothing. I talk to the guard, nothing. Theres a staircase past the stephorn with a locked door at the top that wont open.

He just keeps saying, 'Who the hell are you? There's no way you're getting in." And I did watch the doppelganger change into a guard, but then nothing else happened.

The damn doors won't open without the Brain Sword in the active inventory. I had it in storage^%$%&#^&%#&^%$#%&^$#

So how do I combine the magic runes? I go into the menu and I can only select one element at a time. I'm guessing I have to raise more levels or something?

Yeah, the manual does a bad job of explaining that. If you can't combine them, you need to gain levels. Healing magic was my biggest source of frustration -- it felt like it took forever to get it, and my Terran never got strong enough in Water to use the group healing spells.

Im sure this is answered somewhere in this thread, i was too excited about reading there was a new genesis RPG to take the precious time to look... Where can i get my hands on a copy of this!?

Unfortunately the game is sold out. However, the development team has noted on their web site that they will likely produce additional copies of Star Odyssey in the future.

This has got to be one of the tackiest RPGs on the Genesis, like Treco-level bad. I have played a bit of it in the RPG Trifecta Pack (which I got for Beggar Prince, which has been the only good game in it so far) and its saving grace is its laughably campy appeal. Reminds me of why I played Altered Beast. Not a good game, but better than WuKong at least. It is trying desperately to be Phantasy Star.

I think it's quite good, except for the extreme encounter rates. They could have cut that in half or 1/4 even and doubled or quadrupled the EXP, it would have been far better. I like some music and the atmosphere of the game. It's much better than Wukong, somewhat worse than Beggar Prince.

Are there game genie codes for this game to do what you're talking about? It seems like it would be a good way to make it more playable.

An EXP boost seems like it would be simple, not sure about modifying the encounter rate though...

Unfortunately you wouldn't be able to save the game with a Game Genie in place (at least not on real hardware).

I think some games with SRAM can handle the Game Genie, but don't quote me on it.

Huh, really? If so I'd be interested to know what they are. I know Soleil couldn't save through a GG when I tried it (I needed the GG to get around region lockout). Maybe EEPROM/FRAM games might be worth checking out?
