That's really not a viable excuse, because of the key mapping feature found in 99% of the games. They make tons of USB controllers you can use, and then they even make USB adapters for controllers, so you can use your console controllers to play PC games as well(I got a CC/CC pro USB adapter, and It's sweet as all hell for computer games).
In short, oldschool should just get a USB controller, and stop complaining about every little(usually)unnoticeable issue with console gaming. He clearly doesn't like console gaming anyway, so he has little ground to be complaining about console gaming(It's not like someone came on here claiming consoles beat PCs in every way afterall).
I was trying to make a joke since he keeps saying P3 and I think Pentium 3
8800GT ehh, that is more the minimum the game calls for. It is compatible with the X360 controller also. I just got the game like a couple of weeks ago on the PC for $12.48 but haven't installed it yet so couldn't tell you how it plays on my X4 940 @ 3.4ghz, 8GB DDR2, GTX260.
I couldn't bring myself to buy a X360 when most of the games are also avail on the PC and work with the X360 controller very well and less hardware issues. You can also lock V-sync and triple buffer in games to help tearing.
I was thinking you might be leaning that way.
I was running the game with a GTS250 OC (512MB) and a Pentium E6300 @ 2.83 Ghz, and it ran just fine on semi-high settings. I was averaging around 27fps at 1920 x 1080, with AAA, AFx4 and DX10.8800GT ehh, that is more the minimum the game calls for. It is compatible with the X360 controller also. In the past 4 months I've upgraded my graphics card to a GTX460 (1024MB GDDR5) and my CPU to an Intel Q9650 @3 Ghz. I also have 8 gigs of DDR2 @800 Mhz. I can run Metro 2033 with high settings and get an average of @ 35-40 fps, using DX11. It really helps that I'm able to overclock my GTX460 to @ 825 Mhz.

Just cause 2 and Red Faction: Guerrilla are fun and great games
Nice build, I built mine back in January of 09, works great with everything I've tossed at, unfortunately there seems to be less and less games I'm interested in on the PC so I'm holding off on a DX11 card. It's kinda sad but my next PC game I'm looking forward to is Batman: Arkham City.
I started playing Need For Speed: Hot pursuit on the PC and it looks great, and controls great but seems to be missing something, I must of played for an hour tonight and just felt bored during alot of it. I'll still probably carry on.
Just a couple months ago I picked up a PS3 Slim 160GB just as it was released and bought a handful of games for it and enjoying them (currently 16+hrs into Castlevania: Lords of Shadow and need to get back into it). Maybe my PC upgrading will subside if I find more games I like on my consoles.
The price of a GTX470 dropped down to near $200 since the 460 came out. I actually paid $219 for my 460 and it's now down to $170 after 4 months.
People snub the trophies and achievements offered on the consoles, but they really do add an extra bit of incentive to play a game longer. I really miss them when I'm playing PC games that don't have LIVE achievements, or Steam accomplishments.I started playing Need For Speed: Hot pursuit on the PC and it looks great, and controls great but seems to be missing something, I must of played for an hour tonight and just felt bored during alot of it. I think the main issue is, that for the most part the achievements are connected to the internet, and saved to an online server, not the save file for the actual game(atleast for the 360 anyway, the PS3's trophy system doesn't seem to require an internet connection, since they are saved to the HD, but It's kind've buggy).
I'm sure if the achievement system was always setup like the one in MM 9, and MM 10(as in, in game trophies, and achievement system), very few people would have a issue with them.
Besides until people make consoles hack free, people are just gonna cheat if It's posted on the internet, so It's pointless for bragging rights anyway.
It's mostly for comparing how well your friends and family have played the game. If you happen to be playing the game at the same time as your bud, you can track his progress and compare it to yours.
I doubt any of us are going to be the greatest achievement/trophy collectors on the planet, but it is a cool feature for those that keep it legit.
