Alot of it has to do with the owners, more than the console itself. I have a spare 60gig I've been messing with for over a year now. I just need to solder a couple of loose points (more the owners fault than anything) and get a replacement ribbon cable for the BRD. He pretty much threw the console in the trunk of his car and took it all over the country. It's amazing the system lasted over a year, with the way he treated it.
A Black Falcon: no, computer games and video games are NOT the same thing. Video games are on consoles, computer games are on PC. The two kinds of games are different, and have significantly different design styles, distribution methods, and game genre selections. Computer gaming and console (video) gaming are NOT the same thing."
Backwards Compatibility is great and all... but the fact of the matter is that the original PS3 has lower quality hardware in it and isn't even designed as well as the newer Slim.
For $100 or less, one can have a brand new PS2 Slim. Honestly, I'd rather put the 'PS2 playing wear' on my PS2 and NOT on my PS3. Wear on my PS3 ONLY comes from playing PS3 games. I have over 200 PS2 games... there's no way in hell I'd put all that PS2 playing wear on my PS3.
I suppose that's just me though
Hell, I've got a dedicated Sony DvD player as well... and you guessed it... it's for playing DvD Movies ONLY and nothing else. I'd never use my PS2/3 or 360 to watch DvD movies.
My Logic is a little overboard but my gear will always last because of my over the top habits.![]()
I rarely play the PS2 and PSone games anyways, but if I choose to, I don't have to drag out my 8+ year old PS2 to do so, when I want to play on the big screen television in the livingroom. My PS2 survived all those years playing PSOne games, so I'm pretty sure the PS3 will be fine with it as well.
