    Default Musicians Supporting Sega

We all know that Michael Jackson did music for Sonic 3, but what other famous or well-known musicians have done music for Sega?

I found out that Buckethead did record some music for a Sega Saturn commercial:

This was confirmed in the comments section of the video.

So, Sega's got Buckethead and Michael Jackson on their side. Who else is there?

There was this one for the Saturn in Japan:

Fun fact: this game uses an engine AM2 developed in their research of what they could do for Virtua Fighter 3 on the Saturn.

In the UK, Right Said Fred did a tie-in for the release of Sonic 3. The video for wonderman had the guys from the UK Sega adverts running around Sonic 3 themed locations

Digital Pinball: Necronomicon, for the Sega Saturn, Japanese only. This totally hellacious music was done by John Petrucci of Dream Theater

    That is awesome!
The Mega Drive was far inferior to the NES in terms of diffusion rate and sales in the Japanese market, though there were ardent Sega users. But in the US and Europe, we knew Sega could challenge Nintendo. We aimed at dominating those markets, hiring experienced staff for our overseas department in Japan, and revitalising Sega of America and the ailing Virgin group in Europe.

Then we set about developing killer games.

Yesterday I was pllaying around with Sewer Shark with a few friends and one pointed out an interesting inclusion in the credits for Jay Ferguson for original musical composition.
    http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0278701/fullcredits
    http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0272471/

It also lists Tom Ferguson, but I'm not sure who handled the FM synth music, or if that went uncredited. (and the credits were purely for the original filming -presumably there was original intended to be in-game music that did make it to the 3DO but was cut from the MCD version for some reason -perhaps the quality would have been too low or there was other streaming data needed in-game that wasn't for the cutscenes)

It also features Mark Mothersbaugh from Devo (who also composes for Rugrats and the PS1 Crash Bandicoots) as the composer for the FM "tunnel" music.

I think several Devo guys went on to be involved with video game music and audio. Pretty sure I read one of them was in Maxis and worked on The Sims, and Devo music was licensed for Interstate 82.

Neat, I missed that. It lists him as the composer, but Mark Miller as the orchestrator and arranger, so Miller handled the actual conversion to FM.

I wonder why they didn't use any PCM, maybe using too much to buffer the voice samples? (which seem too long to cram into 64k, but reasonable to stream from program RAM and not have to stream along with video)
Psygnosis opted to do PCM alone for Novastorm and Microcosm.
