I've not seen one for ages, seems everyone just buys the standard USB Saturn pads that are all over eBay.

Sega did but other publishers were sometimes a bit lazy.

There is no USB Saturn 3D controller though.

Thankfully computers these days can emulate the Saturn...even a new POS cheap computer!

I remember it seemed like it was never going to happen, or at least very very far off.
The smell of scorched oil hangs in the air as a premonition of danger, while the engine gloriously shouts its war cry...

Throughout history, suspicion has always bred conflict. The real conflict, though, resides in people's hearts. This conflict has just begun.

Thanks again folks, I'll probably have to get a USB pad. I'll keep eyes open for an adapter, but by then I'll no doubt have the bug and get the hardware from the parents' and be able to use ythe real thing again. I never did try PD Saga...

Just checked eBay, I might NEVER get to try PD Saga, it's EXPENSIVE!

OK, got the "other woman" back, no emulators: One or two more quick questions...
    1) Is there any way to mod the memory so that it doesn't run on a battery?
    2) Is it likely to be really expensiveto have it modded for playing burnt copies? I know a guy who may be able to do it.

    Thanks again.

    1) not really no, but there is a mod to have a rechargable battery.

    2) Fitting a modchip is easy and cheap and will allow you to play burned backups, if I can fit one then anyone can.

Best one is available from Rob Webb here: www.consolegoods.co.uk

Seconded on Rob's site - super easy, cheapest price, and most reliable.

The recharging battery sounds like a good option. There will no doubt be further questions to follow!

    Many thanks!

Just ordered a copy of Panzer Dragoon Saga, the one I never got to play! Made my eyes water a bit when I saw the eBay prices on show, but got a PAL copy for £50 less than when I last checked in, and with a copy of Panzer Dragoon to boot. So not all bad.

Now, just to send the Saturn away for pimping, wait for my new TV next week and that's pretty much no housework getting done in my crib for a week or two!

Also to mick aka: If my usual guy can't do the chip and battery mod you told me about along with his usual region mod (I've not seen them on his site), could I send it to you for those? If not no prob, but if so PM me with any details (payment etc...) if you like. I'll let you know how I get on with my usual modder first.

I should rename this thread "Stupid questions about Saturns and my amazement at all the games I missed out on being so crazily expensive."

Just found out how expensive Radiant Silvergun is. Please tell me it's actually crap and shouldn't get it. Please, cos if not I'll be buying it.

Just made some enquiries about having the mod chip fitted to allow burned discs. I know this may be better in another seperate thread but I'm trying not to clutter the boards.

I'm told that some models with oval buttons like mine; a PAL MK80200-50 bought brand new on release can't have this mod done to them.

Anyone know how common this is? I may just need to buy a new console and part exchange this one. I hope not though, the memories!

Thanks folks, and for all the help so far.
