Anyone play Growlanser?

Has anyone here played any of the Growlanser games? And if you have, are they any good? What other RPG series could you compare it to?

edit: I also meant to ask, are any of the Shining games on the PS2 any good? Shining Force Neo, EXA, or Shining Tears?

I have growlanser generations for playstation 2, I played it for a couple hours and to be honest I was not impressed with it, normally I really enjoy anime style rpg's but I just couldn't get into this one.

as for rpg series it could be compared to, i'm not sure it's a strategy rpg but its not a very exciting one. but the art design and the 2d in the game looks gorgeous. it's one of those games that you either like it alot or you dislike it. do you already own the game?
