Is your game collection insured? If so, what's the evaluated value and what are your monthly/yearly payments?

If you have renter's insurance, your game collection is insured. If you are under 18 living with your parents, it is insured. If you are 18 or older, you need to get renter's insurance (even if you live with your family).

If you have a large game collection, you will want documentation, preferably a video and photos. If you ever have a loss (fire, tornado) the insurance company is going to need proof.

Hope this helps (worked at a call center for a Home Insurance company).

I was going to say... I moved from goverment quarters to my own apt eariler this year and I upped it, plus my place althought vastly superior and nicer was lacking a few safety things compared to my old digs my rates went up woo.

Fun fact: After I moved out, some dumb fuck set off the sprinkler in my old room and flooded it.

Home owner's insurance and good records and documentation of what I own lets me sleep easy at night. No need to insure it further.

You guys know that home insurance won't cover a large media collection in the 5 digits, right? They'll give you about $5000 to cover everything media related in your house (movies, music, games) and that's about it.

Perhaps I should have specified that this is for a collection worth 5 digits or more. My bad.
