    Default Dangerous Seed

A Japan exclusive, Dangerous Seed passed under most people's radars, and while it isn't mindblowing, it's solid in just about every respect.

I had a chance to get this a long while ago, but blew it, sadly. When I get a chance to start building up on the SHMUPS collection, this is one of the top verts on my list, right along with Crisis Force.

    That would help, wouldn't it?

    Fixed.

Would've given this a 7 at most, but the review was definitely a good read.

I rented this back in the day, but I have a hard time remembering anything about it, except the box cover.

Thanks: I debated for awhile on which rating to go with, 7 or 8, but I was trying to follow the review manifest guidelines as best I could, and I really enjoyed playing the game, despite the power up system's problems. One of the better shmups on the Mega Drive, IMO.

I tried playing the arcade version before writing the review to do a bit of contrasting (though I ended up dropping that bit for space considerations), and even though I didn't play it that much, it's quite different in some aspects. Was also interested to learn that the game was based in the Galaga universe, as pointed out by Digital Monkey Box.

Thanks for reading it, forumers, and thanks for using it, Melf!

It's no Dragon Spirit/Saber but it's one import title in my collection that gets a lot of play. The graphics remind me of Galaga 88/90 too.

Before even reading it, my conclusion about this game was the same as the review. It won't win any prizes, but:

Crystal clear and colorful graphics? Check
    Good music? Check
    3-hit lives? Check
    Fast and furious action? Check
Influence from great shoot 'em ups from the early 80s? Check
Good challenge with the corresponding frustration but not being overwhelming? Check

Its main downside? It forces you to restart the level when you die. However, it's a very rewarding experience overall.
