I never cared for the Genesis EC, but I love the Sega CD version so much! It was my favorite fighter ever until I got my hands on Street Fighter Alpha. I really need to relearn how to play the game again, I never did beat the game to get the real ending.

Fun fact: Back in the early days of dial up internet, everyone knew that Eternal Champions CD had a ton of secrets, but there was no strategy guide and most were unknown. That was when I discovered the first FAQ I remember. I was at a bud's house (I didn't have a PC) but he didn't have a printer. What did I do? I wrote down the FAQ onto notebook paper, word for word, all of it. This took several hours. The problem? At the time, dial up internet was charged based on how long you stayed online, and my bud's dad was pissed. It didn't occur to me that I could have simply signed off the internet once the page loaded, I didn't know much about computers then.

You can fight as more than an Owl dude!

    From Wikipedia:
    Animal characters

Also only available in Challenge from the Dark Side, these characters lacked Vendettas and Cinekills. Their stages actually belong to other characters onto whom they piggybacked.

    * Crispy, a chicken from a farm who practices Egg Fu and died by helicopter blitz in 1967. His stage is the same as Blast, which is an adapted version of Midknight's from the first game.
    * Hooter, an owl from Salem who practices Owl-Kwon Do and died in 1692 alongside the character Xavier. His stage is the same as Xavier's.
    * Slither, a snake from a bar called the Snakebite Saloon who practices brawling and died in 1820 while defending his bar. He shares a stage with new character Dawson.
    * Yappy, a dog from New York City who practices Shih Tzu Fu and was run over by an automobile during a revengeful sabotage attempt in 1950. He shares a home stage with the hidden character Senator.
    * Zuni, a monkey at the Blue Dragon Circus who practices Monkey Fu and died by elephant stampede in 1902 while trying to put out a fire in the circus tent. His stage is Jetta's Stage.
Since you're looking at getting a Sega CD, I would recommend you pick up Eternal Champions: CftDS. Really good game!

My friends loved the original game, never could get into it. I have the cd version maybe I should give it a 3rd try.

I gave revengers of vengeance a try.... that game seemed icky

BTW samurai showdown is the best port for the 16 bit systems of the game on sega cd.
