Thread: Sega neptune mod

    Genesis Sega neptune mod

Im looking for some one to mod my model 1 non-TmSS Genesis, model 1 Sega CD, and 32x. I would do it myself but I don't know a lot about voltage regulating and about the engineering skills required for the switch less region mod. I am looking for someone who can

    - create a switch less region mod that can change the regions for the sega cd, sega genesis, and 32x

    - mod the sega cd to have multi-bios

    - a neptune mod

    - mod all three consoles so that it can run off 1 power supply

    - have the internal (stereo) audio mixing with the genesis and the 32x

    - S video/av out mod on the sega neptune

    - and, idk if this exists yet, but if you can, mod it so that the neptune can still use the power base converter.

For the cartridge slot I would prefer for it to have the 32x cartridge doors, however I would also like the cartridge slot to be able to take import megadrive and 32x games, so if you can’t put a cartridge door on it, then Im okay with it.

We're not quite able to do s-video out on the 32x yet, if I recall.

Can anyone do RGB out for a SCART connection? I have been using SCART to Component on most of my retro consoles, but I would like to consider having a Neptune built as well.

electrochip, I think did it in this mod

the reason why I want S video/av out mod is because the model 1 genesis doesn't mix stereo with the 32x, so if a stereo line from the inside of the genesis can just run to the back (where the av out would be) then it could output the stereo sound to the tv (I played a 32x game with my headphones and I could hear all the sound).

If Im correct, couldn't you just replace the av out for the genesis with the av out from the 32x and just run a scart line from that output?

The neptune mod I did still outputs RGB from the standard Genesis port. It was rewired so that the 32X video signals are output so you get both Genesis and 32X RGB out as well as Gen/32X stereo out. The headphone jack carries the Gen/32X sounds and was internally mixed so you get the CD audio as well from those ports when using the CD unit.

Electrochip managed to get S-video out of it by wiring the RGB lines to a video encoder board, which converted the RGB to S-video. The 32X doesn't output S-video at all.

Correct, I used a separate RGB to NTSC encoder (CXA1645) in order to convert the RGB out from the 32X to S-Video. No one has found an easier way to do it.

Well then for the mod I would like a CXA1645 encoder to convert the RGB output from the 32x to s video, with the stuff above minus the power base converter compatibility. How much would that cost?

Sweet. Definitely interested in having it done (Genesis/32X. Sorry for thread jacking, but since I want the same thing, I hope no one minds). If anyone is willing, PM me to discuss options and such.

I have to use my Genesis/32X through a crappy composite connection, and it looks like ASS on my 32'' Sharp LCD TV. What do I need to make it look decent and not blurry and smothered out? Keep in mind I'm using an American console.

    Help!

LOL. I actually bought an lcd recently to replace a broken crt tv. The games looked so crappy that I returned the lcd tv and got a used crt tv off craigs list for $40.

It's gamer heaven on CRTs right now, grab them while you can!

On Topic: electrochip's Neptunes work great and the s-video looks sharp.
