I've had less than a dozen games... and all were original GB stuff. I've never gotten much into hanhelds either, especially as I got older. (I was the right age during the pokemon craze, so I got a bit into that and had a few others -James Bond 007 was my first, Pac Man, Lion King, Mario Land, Mario Land 2 -my brother played that much more, a few of the Pokemon games -never played much beyond red/blue/yellow)

I am interested in getting Link's Awakening though, especially the GBC version... but I'll need a GB Player for the GC to play it on a TV.... or I could emulate. (if I got the old GB version, I could play it on my Super Game Boy though)

But in general, I'm not that big into portable gaming... in part due to finding most things unplayable (especially action/arcade games) while in a car/bus (planes are smooth enough, trains usually are too).

On that note: the blurry/unlit screen of my brick GB was never a real deterrent from playing it.

No, you get outta here. Where did I say you actually said Sony was noble? You certainly implied it, however, with your incorrect statement that Sony's games are cheaper.

You should peel your eyes away from the "Greatest Hits" titles and check out the pricing of *new* PSP titles. The new God of War and Metal Gear Solid titles, for example, are more expensive than most DS games.

Or maybe he was talking used prices as well, but I'd think the DS would be cheaper there too... (especially online)

I really wasn't a big fan of the original Game Boy OR the Zelda series to be perfectly honest but I'll be damned if Link's Awakening wasn't one of my favorite games ever.

I've gotten more into portal gaming in recent years after having almost completely ignored it when I was younger sans Pokemon. I have less time to sit down in front of consoles than I used to and it's more convenient for me.

He was talking about the factual argument that psp games don't cost $10 less than DS games like you repeated.

    Reading comprehension problems?

An insinuation out of thin air? Let's look at the replay:

Translation: "Good old Sony is asking $10.00 less for their games than mean old Nintendo."

That may not have been exactly what you meant, but it certainly reads that way. This interpretation was far from out of nowhere.

I know this sounds a little fan-boyish, so let me try to balance things out by "tsk-tsking" Nintendo for not releasing their own Greatest Hits this generation. The only games they've re-released have not been their biggest sellers. They've re-released games the same way people "bump" their threads in Sonic's Bazaar. Why aren't games like New Super Mario Bros and Tetris DS available for $20 yet?

Answer: because they don't have to. They're winning.

I thought you were talking about something else... in response to this though: I've only seen a couple PSP games priced at $40 and there's no way I'm paying that. The God of War game I bought was $20 and in due time the newer one will follow suit. I'll get all of my PSP games for $20 or less new.

Good for Nintendo that they've sold a bajillion DS handhelds.

I've tried to like the DS, but it doesn't do anything for me. I think it feels cheap, is uncomfortable for more than 15 minutes or play, and I used a stylus in the 90s with PDAs so could care less about that. Sure, there are some good games, but not enough that hold my attention.

To this day, I prefer the GBA SP's design.

I'm obviously in the minority, but I prefer the PSP on every level. Construction, ergonomics, screen, capabilities, and game library. And once hacked, it is an amazing retro gaming machine. I've used the PSP to emulate as much in recent years as I've played on the real hardware. It's way more convenient to play the PSP for 30 minutes before going to sleep than it is to get out of bed and go to the game room.

Of course, I may become a fan of the 3DS. We'll see.

Yeah. The most popular games on the DS never come down in price; that pisses me off. Conversely, some of the best DS games end up in the clearance rack within months, and that pisses me off, too.

And just to be clear, I wasn't trying to argue that PSP games weren't cheaper, since in the long-run they usually are. I was simply pointing out that Sony would charge more for their games if they could, as demonstrated by the no-brainer top-selling games. People can [rightly] blast Nintendo for being money-grubbing, but Sony is doing some pretty funny stuff in their attempts to break even...

No no, Nintendo would be a money leech if they were selling DS games for $40 and up. How I see it, Ninty is just taking advantage of an otherwise clueless userbase. If people want to overpay for 3+ year old DS games, so be it. There isn't a whole lot wrong with that, but then again lots of people seem to hate capitalism...

On the other hand, Sony has always tended to leave a bad taste in my mouth. I find them to be underhanded in all sorts of areas, not just one specific thing like pricing. Even their first party games kinda stink of generic-ness... Blech... But you know, generic-ness sorta fits with Sony's business model of selling practically anything with a circuit board inside it come to think of it.
