Just a personal opinion: while 64 has the best arenas, I still adore the one arena in Double Dash that has the two warp pipes. That one was really fun with four players going all out.

That said, most of the arenas just felt small in comparison to the 64 ones. Like the Donut arena. What the hell was that?!

And I think Wii is underrated. The problem is Double Dash and DS had been released so recently, and DS was SO GOOD, that it kind of made the Wii version less of an event. It's a solid game, in fact it really resembles the DS game, but it's just not as memorable. The rubberbanding isn't any worse than it was in Double Dash or DS though, I think people were working themselves up for nothing. You didn't buy a copy of Gran Turismo 5, what were you expecting?

Super Mario Kart Gets my Vote, though Mario Kart 64 is really good too but had to come in 2nd due to the controls not being quite as good due to the N64s lousy controller.

I have the best memories of the SNES version, but I really don't care to play it these days. The Wii version gets my vote.

The DS game was the best, except that the drifting/boosting setup broke the game. It became more about zig zaging (even in a straight) than racing.

Yeah the handheld ones should have been included. Mario Kart DS is my favorite.

SMK is god for racing weak at battles, MK64 is awesome in general though, a bit easier in racing than SMK, but without the super cheapness and lack of strategy of the later games. (not total lack of strategy, but strategy that's not racing oriented at all, but all about learning how to use cheap shots, it's fune nevertheless but if I want to use cheap shots I'll play as Picachu in SSB )

Mario Kart 64!!! I still play this whenever I can get my friends to play with me, which isn't often. Last time I played I won 16-0.

Mario Kart Wii, Don't like the wheel but you can use the Classic/GameCube controller too. I might have picked Mario Kart DS as favorite if it was on the list. I can't really choose between the 2 games as I love them both equally.

Mario Kart 64 is a bit overated IMO. It has some great tracks like Royal Raceway, Koopa Troopa Beach and Bowser's Castle but then it also has some bad tracks like Wario Stadium and Rainbow Road. I really dislike those long tracks in that game. However the music in Mario Kart 64 is still the best in the series.

    Yes, that game is terrible!

I hate Super Mario Kart, but that's because I played the crap out of Double Dash. Definitely my favorite of the series. Mario Kart Wii is REALLY good too.

MK64 had the best tracks. I have them all and second place is not even close. SMK comes in second for nostalgia sake, but is nowhere close to MK64. Double Dash has been played more as of late, but does not have the great courses in able to be ranked at the top.
    It is finished!

I've barely touched SMK or MKDD, so my choice is out of MK64 and MKW. I had so much more fun with MK64, especially with friends, which is what the game seemed designed for. The Wii version has rather lacklustre tracks and half of them are from other MK games. Like a lot of game updates, especially racing games, from the last decade, the developers have just tacked more and more useless stuff into the MK series, so I feel that MK64 was the best because I had the most fun with it. I can see from the limited amount of time that I've played SMK that it's technically better in terms of actual racing.

Only game in the series I've really enjoyed is Mario Kart DS.

All the other games had really slippery controls.

I have a hard time telling them apart, but anything after SMK is pretty good. With friends.

    SMK! 16-bit is always better.
