Default CSY-2100 (similar) Power adapter fried? Help Me please.

    Hey
Guys.. I am sad today. I finally received my CSY-2100 Clone

    http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...ht_1562wt_1141

and went to plug it in and poof.

The power supply fried instantly. I was told by the seller that it had the USA/CAN power adapter.. I am guessing that it was not? this is what the adapter says on the back.

    AC/DC ADAPTER
    Model: MHD-1626
    INPUT: 100-240 V 50/60Hz
    OUTPUT: 12V 500mA

I am wondering why did it fry? is this the wrong one? I am newbie to volts etc.....

Did it fry the box part? It smells ok just the adapter smells like burning.

I did email the seller but I am inpatient and really wanted my video games in highquality. If you can help me I would greatly appreciate it!

Might have been a bad power supply. Get another power supply with the same ratings and check to see if the converter is OK.

Are those the correct ratings for a Canadian outlet?

Yeah, it's a multimode power supply so it'll work through any power outlet rated between 100 and 240 V. You can use a 120 V power supply since that's the voltage used in Canada (as well as the US). The polarity and output voltage are what's important though. Make sure the polarity is tip positive and it puts out between 9 and 12 V. Don't use a tip negative power supply or one that puts out AC, otherwise you might fry the voltage regulator in the converter (and maybe other components).

Holy crap! I bought the same CVS2087 from this same seller a few weeks ago! But mine didn't work on my TV, the signal wasn't accept from this box.I'm still trying to understand why it doesn't work?!

Did you have any luck replacing the power adapter?

Glad to hear. Can I ask was it the same voltage? (ie. 12v) or did he send different voltage power supply?

I'm trying to figure out why mine isn't working. Maybe the power supply is distorting the signal...

If it's 12V, those are super common. Just get an adapter (even the large kinds like PS2 slims and laptops use) that does 12V, supports the amperage needed (probably just >=850 mA or so) and the tip polarity. It would be $1-2 from goodwill...

That's a lot easier than having another one sent. Heck the adapter from your wireless router probably fits these specs! :-) You'll just have to reconnect it to post back to us ;-)

Hmm. I believe it only does one thing, recode RGB direct into component. If so the TV's input still needs to support the output device's resolution and frequency.

Sounds like your TV (is it an HDTV?) doesn't like 240p video signals. If it is an HDTV you'd be best getting the one that has HDMI out rather than component, and it'll upscale the 240p signal to something your TV will be compatible with, like 720p. The results will be sexy
