Yes this game was ace! Completed 100% on PC :P Unlocking Metal sonic, Metal knuckles, ragdoll tails, robot egg bloke were really cool

MY PC version had no music though, was probably a pirated version I guess so it's weird to hear the music in the videos, all I ever heard was the footsteps and sound effects xD

Nah, certain versions of the game don't have the music for some reason. One I can think of in particular is the Activision Published version.

I'm not colorblind but the track does go extremely dark every couple seconds. Looks more annoying than anything.

Sonic R is... definitely among the top three Saturn Sonic games

I like the version on the Sonic Gems collection best (PC port?) did grow to enjoy it, even though a Sonic racing game really should have more... speed Once you get over the ridiculous lyrics the music's okay, too. I was glad to see (hear:P) it in Sega All Stars Racing - it does cut through the all the forgettable Sonic Rush musics and other such mehs a little.

Sonic R didn't deserve the negative criticism which only caused people to complety ignore it. It truly is a badass game once you get used to it.

@smii: I beat it on Sonic Gems Collection and it's awesome. I don't own the Saturn version though.

@Smii: Yeah, the Gems version is a port of the PC version; so is Sonic CD.

I love Sonic R. It's the last good Sonic game made until this day. Great soundtrack, colourful tracks, some (but not many) unlockable characters, and good replayability thanks to the various modes. I even made a website about this game back in the day (just checked and it's still up ).

    This brings back memories.

That has got to be the stupidest list ever made.

I don't mind the voice, but I too prefer the instrumental versions.

And it is. Some people just race through the game to finish it and to say that it's very short (the game is short, yes, but there are other things to do than the normal race).

Exactly. That's the way a Sonic racing game should be.

P.S: I had the PC version.

I do not think Traveller's Tales are capable of doing a great game. Most of what I enjoyed in Sonic R were the assets by SEGA rather than the actual game (sort of like Sonic Jam's Game World). I would really enjoy a sequel that was expansive and fun, though, as long as they stuck to the same art style (and music too, although opinions seem mixed on that).

I actually got Sonic Gems at the same time as my PS2 and instead of playing any of the new games, I spent most of the weekend I got it playing Sonic R. D'oh.

Btw, if you don't own the Saturn version, there's not much point bothering to. It's not as good. But don't tell anyone I said that

Yeah, it's a bad Sonic CD port - horrible MSPaint style loading screens (which sometimes display backwards for no reason at all :/) and the US soundtrack - which just feels unfinished because they didn't change any of the past music. I do know why they didn't, but that doesn't make it better ;P

I would love a sequel. Though it had to be made by TT, and have much more tracks.

It was before I played it, although when I played it on the Gems Collection at a friend's house I still didn't like it. It wasn't until I played the PC version that I started to enjoy it. And even more when I got the Gems Collection last year.

Yeah, that sucks. Pretty much the only way you could get to the chorus is playing in one of the time trial modes

I gotta agree with this fully. Her voice is amazing.

And Richard Jacques also worked with her on Metropolis Street Racer's music.

And yeah, they SHOULD work together on something again.

It's basically what I did on both PC and the Gems Collection

Yep. That and their Top 20 Genesis Games list were their worst. No Sonic 2 on the list = BAD

I agree. Hopefully they'll take a break from making LEGO games and make a Sonic R sequel. With music by Richard Jacques featuring vocals by T.J. Davis

SLIGHTLY OFF TOPIC: Speaking of TT, I would have loved for them to make the main console versions of Toy Story 3, considering they worked on most of the TS games before (the first, 2 and Racer), because Avalanche's effort wasn't that good (the PSP version is way better, and different)

I'll add my name to the list of Sonic R fans, although my experience is from the PC version and not the Saturn. It's a little short and no Mario Kart, but I wish Sega had stuck with this on-foot concept instead of the Sonic Riders concept.

Indeed. Those games go against the concept of Sonic itself.
