    Default cool new genesis games?

so i heard about Legend of Wukon and bought a copy. It came in last week, i havent given it a whirl yet. (BTW to those who bought it.. is it suposed to come open? The game wasn't sealed which i found kinda lame)

It got me doing some searching for 'new' Genesis games out there. There are 3 that i found that sounded pretty good

    LEGEND OF WUKONG (got it)
    Beggar Prince
    and
    Pier solar

Beggar Prince unfortunatly seems to be out of print, and so does Pier Solar (though suposedly there may be a reprinting) This has me wondering; are there any other new Genesis games out there i should look for? I figured you guys would be the best place to check with. It seems like i may have missed out on some of the cool ones since they had limited runs

You just missed the Pier Solar reprint, it is also sold out now, but will eventually be back in stock.

Well, you checked it a month ago... the reprint went on sale December 31st and was sold out by January 14th.

    A month can be a long time.^^

But you can still wait for more copies to be produced.

EDIT: Ninja'd by 108 Stars. He's made the below paragraph obsolete by including actual dates.

Reprint orders started taking place around new years (give or take a few days). It was about 2 weeks after that the reprint sold out.

Man I'm glad I didn't miss Pier Solar a second time and got the reprint. I probably wouldn't have liked the Classic Edition for playing anyways. Though I'm still upset at the lack of a color manual in the reprint, even if most official Genesis manuals were black and white.

Pier Solar IS a new Genesis game! The two others were released in Taiwan during the 90s, so they aren't "new" in the same sense.

There are two other "new" games coming up, Star Odyssey, which is a translated release of Blue Almanac, and Rick Dangerous, which is a port from other systems.

Good Idea. He said "Cool" new Genesis games, and by definition any new Genesis game is cool. He never said anything about game play.

Frog Feast is a SCD, not a Genesis game. . .

As for truly new games, the only two that have been made so far (that I know of) are Pier Solar and Hangman. Everything else is a translation/reproduction regardless of how much reprogramming has been done. Rick Dangerous is a port, but it should be considered a legitimately new release as it was programmed from the ground up from what I gather.

There are certainly more titles in the works though. People should expect some fun things within the next year or so.

Incorrect. Every game produced by Super Fighter Team is legally negotiated with and licensed from the IP holder(s), or the legal rights and ownership are acquired outright. In the case of Star Odyssey even Sega of Japan was consulted, giving us an unofficial green light on the project.

"Reproduction" is simply a buzz word used to cover up the truth: unauthorized, illegal sales of video game products which the seller hasn't even attempted to negotiate a legitimate license for. Please don't attempt to shovel our hard work in with the quick and easy efforts made by those with such blatant disregard of and disrespect for copyright and IP ownership.

Regardless, they're still translations of existing games that were previously unreleased in the U.S., and not new games like Pier Solar. That's all that's really being said here, I think.

Ah, semantics; it's all in the eye of the beholder. Then, allow me to add my interpretation of the concept of "new," as it relates to this conversation:

If you are experiencing a video game for the first time, it's new.

Okay, so would "brand new" better fit what Beaglepuss and Waverboy were addressing? Typically that means outright new, straight from the factory (or anything similar). Going by that definition, only Pier Solar, Hangman and whatever recently coded games are out there, qualify.

Now if we stick to your definition, any game Kenshin has never played before could have been suggested in this thread. I see a contradiction with the kind of games Kenshin listed as examples in his first post using your interpretation of the word "new".

    Semantics!
