The Mega Drive was far inferior to the NES in terms of diffusion rate and sales in the Japanese market, though there were ardent Sega users. But in the US and Europe, we knew Sega could challenge Nintendo. We aimed at dominating those markets, hiring experienced staff for our overseas department in Japan, and revitalising Sega of America and the ailing Virgin group in Europe.
Then we set about developing killer games.

Now that's something we can agree on. So you don't share Brandon's dislike of repros in general, but the making of profit and low quality.
That's what I mean when I say repros, although illegal can be a great thing for gamers. These two are prime examples of quality work for little money, and I find that acceptable from a moral standpoint when the copyright holders even today with the possibility of cheap publishing through the Wii Virtual Console for example still do not make their old games available to western audiences.
To quote my favorite movie, Glengarry GlenRoss: "He's right, Williamson!"
The legal discussion was interesting for a while, but we've all stated and re-stated our points of view, and I figure that's more than enough. After all, we're not all going to settle on the same viewpoint, and... that's okay.
So, to get back on course -- cool new Genesis games = <3
Cruise by Diskman Presents: filled with geektastic classic gaming goodness!
I thought I'd throw my hat in the ring here when it comes to my thoughts on the subject. I consider Pier Solar & Hangman SG to both be new games for the Genesis. as for Beggar Prince, Legend of Wukong, and Star Odyssey its all just a matter of opinion. my view on those 3 games simply is Technically they are new since there new to anyone outside of China and/or Japan, and Technically there not new since they were originally published years ago.
as for reproductions. I have absolutely no problems w/ them as they provide a way for people to play games in English that they might otherwise might never be able to play and there also useful for expensive games such as Eliminate Down at good cheap price. what I do have a problem w/ is people trying to pass Repros off as the real deal and ripping people off by selling them for tons of $$$
I never said I'd share anyone's dislike towards repros. I said that one should (and Brandon did) distinguish between translators and bootleggers which you seemed to have overlooked.
Repros are an excellent way to complete your collection, although I'd really wish that these games would have been released bitd.
And if you consider that for a repro you need to invest material and time which needs to be calculated into the final pricing, I don't care if anyone's making profit. Whatever is left can't be that much anyway.
