Still, the $249.99 price makes me wince a bit. If there aren't at least 2 decent launch games I'll wait until later in the year. Hell, the regular DS has better games coming for it than the 3DS will have anytime soon.
Lol speaking of which, I pre-ordered a DS game the other day, needless to say yea, there are still awesome games coming out for the DS(a subpar fighter, and Pilot Wings being the best Launch titles, Isn't really gonna have the 3DS flying off shelves).

Wow. Whatever gave me the idea I'd be spending DS money on this. Looks like I'll be getting this three or four years down the line then.

...no matter. I won't be missing much throughout those few years. It already appears that this new Machine of the Future will be as shovelware friendly as the DS (and Wii). Yaaay.

Ehhhh...that $250 price tag is a no go for me. Especially for a handheld. I'll try it out on a demo kiosk when it comes out. If I like it, I'll be patient and wait for that price to drop.

$250 is just perfect. I travel abroad a lot for business, so portables are important to me. I don't mind giving just $250 to Nintendo for all of the fun they gave me since childhood, and the hours they killed for me flying back and forth over the Pacific countless times.

So, it's settled then. The handheld will only be affordable if you're so crazy rich you could afford to fly back and forth over the Pacific countless of times since childhood.

I'm kind of surprised people are reacting so negatively to the $250 price tag, especially considering most people here thought it was going to sell for $300 a few months ago. But I guess that's like saying "why are people angry about paying $4 per gallon for gas? It was supposed to be $5 a gallon!"

Honestly, it's not an unprecedented price thanks to the PSP, and one I think is pretty fair considering the tech. And no, I'm not a fanboy, just someone who had a great experience with the DS.

My big concern is with the launch titles. Despite the lack of quality titles, I don't think the 3DS is doomed to fail like some posters have implied/stated. Does anyone here remember the original DS launch? I do, as I bought the system a week after launch. Remember classics such as Feel the Magic xx/xy, Spiderman 2, and Metroid Prime Hunters demo? You don't? Lucky you.

At least the DS launched with Super Mario 64 DS, which was an almost decade-old game lacking analog control that was universally panned (I actually thought it was pretty fun, and found the analog simulation through touch-screen to be great if you could conquer the learning curve).

I think that's why I was expecting the 3DS to launch with Ocarina of Time. It just made sense when taking the original DS launch into account. But if it's not happening, at least there are a few games I am excited about.

Pilot Wings Resort looks fun. I've always loved the Pilot Wings games, and I think the Mii-makeover works. Supposedly it's one of the few games that really utilizes the 3D tech, as you're able to better account for space when attempting to land on platforms. That said, Pilot Wings has always been about displaying new tech/controls.

Super Street Fighter IV looks excellent, and seems like the only confirmed day one launch title. I'm a sucker for the series, so I may be a bit biased, but I passed on Super Street Fighter IV for consoles, and I'm glad I did. Playing on the go suits my tastes better, and I look forward to going online with the game.

Believe it or not, I was pleasantly surprised with the extra features of the 3DS. I LOVE that there's only one friend code that you're going to have to deal with, the AR Cards look interesting (though history says they'll probably go the way of the eReader), Street Pass may be more exciting to me than others as I live in San Diego and regularly attend Comic Con, and the operating system looks like an upgrade over the DSi.

Call me an optimist, but I'm pretty happy with Nintendo at the moment. Portable gaming has always been about giving a different experience than console gaming, which is something Nintendo (and recently Apple) only seem to understand. The 3DS is something new and different, and I'm looking forward to getting my hands on one.

    I agree with this post.

I have never seen such a bunch of whining babies when it comes to pricing, an argument which I have never really been able to get behind. There have been consoles I have waited to buy, such as the PS3 and XBOX360, but I never stomped my feet like a little child about it. I am not necessarily saying anyone here is doing that very thing, however, complaining about a brand new system (sorry, but contrary to some peoples popular belief, this IS a brand new console, it is not simply "another upgrade" to the DS.) which is utilizing up and coming technology (3D without glasses? Well, I wouldn't have it any other way.) by a company who is well known for, at the very least, creating a quality product which is not prone to malfunctions, and which they will be continuing to support, not to mention, one that has backwards compatibility with a system with a HUGE library of games, 250 dollars is nothing. I don't see what it being a handheld has to do with anything whatsoever.

I will concede that the launch lineup is lackluster for me personally. I am almost compelled to get it just for some portable, 3D PES, and Street Fighter, but these are games that exist on other consoles already. I would much rather see some nice exclusives that I cannot get anywhere else, and even though it looks awesome, I am not talking about an Ocarina remake. I am going to wait, not because it is too expensive, but because I want something on it that I will really be compelled to play with. I am still using my DS Lite, which happens to be my favorite console ever made (Sorry Genesis, but don't worry, I love you and I will still play my 80+ games which I own for you on a regular basis.) so maybe by the time I buy a 3DS, the hinges will have worn out, and it will be time for an upgrade.

You guys need to stop smoking crack, because these launch titles are insane.
SSFIV? DOA? RE? Pilotwings? Maybe even Kid Icarus and Zelda?
    SICKKKK!
Compare this to the DS launch titles. Or heck, compare this to launch titles for any other handheld.
And what the hell is wrong with the price tag?
DS used to be like, what? 200?
This is PHREEE-DEEEE! So there. Justified.

The title I'm really looking forward to (and this is probably coming from out of left-field) is Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor Overclocked. That and Paper Mario 3D. Both offering a deep experience.

When you say it with that kind of enthusiasm, I am actually compelled to agree with you.

Not all of those will be at launch, though. The decent launch games will probably be Pilotwings, SF4, and DOA. I love portable fighters, hopefully they are playable with the Dpad. The DS Lite's dpad wasn't great, but it wasn't totally horrible for fighters either.

By Christmas we'll probably have Zelda, Kid Icarus, MGS3 and (hopefully) Phoenix Wright vs Prof. Layton. That's pretty fucking sweet.

Not to pick on you, but can you explain the premise (and praise) of this series to me? I just don't get it (getting old).

A brand new PS3 with the 250 GBer will run $350 (least it was when I bought it, may be cheaper now).
    A brand new 360 with a 250 only ran me $300.

    vs.

$250 for a portable device that has some of the ugliest Jaggies I've ever seen on a system, not to mention will probably be surpassed by another iteration in the series within 6-12 months and the new one will also cost $250+) making this unit go 'way' down in price almost immediately.

Yeah, go ahead and support that price point, but at least know what you're supporting.... a crazy price.
