    Default NeoGenesis (v16)

Has anyone done a comparison of the NeoGenesis v16 emulator on a modded Xbox or PC to the real thing in terms of how it handles Sega CD FMV games specifically? I own both systems so just for fun I tested out Double Switch and Tomcat Alley on my Xbox using the NeoGenesis emulator against the real system. I noticed that it gets stuck and sputters for about 3 seconds every other 10 seconds whenever there's FMV. This happens even with normal or perfect synchro enabled. Needless to say I stopped right there. While it may be cool to run a game on a different system, nothing beats the feel of taking an original game out of the original case and running it on the real system the way it was intended to.

How are you running the games - from CD or off the harddrive?

If CD, do you know what drive you have? - mine seriously plays up on Sonic CD on CD, with constant slowdown or it will just lockup; yet, played off the harddrive, and it plays perfectly.

I'm playing them off the original disk. I've got the samsung drive, which supposedly reads more media than the Thomson or Philips. I haven't tried running them from the HD yet, as I currently only have a 120GB WD in there now and it's almost filled. Might be time for an upgrade.

You're lucky - I have a stock harddrive, with like 4 gig total space on it! I'm upgrading to a 1.5tb next week funny enough, so yeah, I'd get a new one if you're running out of space.

As for the drive, I have a Thompson one myself that picks it up, so it *may* not be the drive, but the emulator itself.

1.5tb will be more than enough. I need to back my files onto another PC, as this xbox is starting to make some noises. Mine still has the original enigma chip with the 29 solder points, lol.

Does it the DVD drive enable it to emulate full motion video within sega CD games like night trap when using neogeneisis without any stuttering in the dialog?
