I got hold of a few games for the 3DO...ahem. It wasn't reading disks well at first but two cleanings of the laser seemed to take care of it! It's definitely a cools system. Full-screen full-color FMV back when we only had the Sega CD as a common alternative.
I played a little Gex and really liked it. My son will love that game! Road rash is a lot of fun and SF II Turbo is a nice port. I'm so used to the Genesis version of SF II CE that it seems a little foreign to me, but the graphics do look much better.
I bought the actual Panasonic controller and it isn't bad. Feels a lot like an NES controller...but I like the 3 button setup better than the NES's four button.
The only thing that I noticed is that the colors are sort of washed out compared to the N64 I was playing on the same TV, which was very colorful. I'm using composite. Will see if S-video improves it.
Now I wish I had time to play that colecovision I got on Sunday too!
yeah all of the console stuff i got from him was pretty dirty and needed some heavy cleaning
My friend has about a a dozen 3do controllers if you were interested I could PM you his number. His favorite 3do game is "HELL: a cyberpunk thriller". I on the other hand remember playing it a bunch when it came out but man I can't remember a single game beside Mad Dog Mcgree
Yeah, I don't know how he stored his stuff but it was dirty. The 3DO looks amazing after I went through it last night. Still have to go through the Genesis and Saturn I bought....I think they'll clean up well, though.
Yes, please PM me with your friend's info...I may get one or two more controllers.
Thanks!
You gotta mod that Saturn, It'll really make it more usable. It's pretty easy to do, there is excellent instructions on the Sega Style page. I have some extra Saturn games if you are interested, nothing special though. I can give you a list.
Yep, that's the plan. That Saturn is actually a backup...couldn't pass it up. I don't see them in the wild too often :-)
Go for Rob's chip @ consolegoods.co.uk if you do - his chip is the easiest to install, the most reliable, and the cheapest, to boot.
The best 3DO controllers are the SECOND RUN of Goldstar 3DO controllers. The first run has problems, but the second run was good. I have a couple of 3DO controllers made by STD and both have malfunctioning start/play buttons.
Yep, I'm getting the mod chip from the UK. I agree that it's the best quality one. Racketbyoy's have QC issues.
Leathco, thanks fro the tip. I'll have to watch out for some of those...how can you identify the second run ones?
I had the most fun with Road Rash on the 3DO back in the day. Definitely check that one out.
Nice, I wish I would have kept mine. Years I found one in addition to a CDI and resold them.
Twisted, GEX, and Crash n' Burn are a few of my favorites.
