Genesis Looking for Broken Sega CD Model 1

Hi all 1st post here but long time Sega Genesis fan.

I'm looking for a broken Sega CD Model 1 that I can mod for a HTPC case. If anything is gonna sit on my entertainment center it's gotta be a Genesis 1601 sitting atop of a Sega CD 1690.

Specifically, I'm looking for a Sega Cd (1690 or front loader) that has all of the external parts in reasonably good condition. I'd like to keep the RF shielding so I have some metal to mount my electronics to, and if the need ever arises deflect bullets, J/K I don't think I have it in me to put one of these in harms way.

If you have one that you've pulled parts from collecting dust in your basement please let me know.

I think I might have one that my friend gave me once. If I do the only problem might be a gear inside I believe since the door opens but wont close. But I will check when I go to my mom's place this weekend.

Ay.... If you guys decide to gut one of these things please sell me the laser and the power board! Another member has offered to lend me his board, but if you're gonna gut one of these things, maybe it could breath life into mine! I have a JVC laser, BTW...it's easy to spot once you're inside there.

Cool project, BTW! Post some pics!

Salsays - thanks! I'll keep an eye on this thread all weekend.

Yoder - I'm all about keeping this stuff going so if there are any extra parts I'd be happy to offer them to you. Well have to see what happens though.

I have a functioning SEGA CD Model 1 except for the disc tray... The gear doesn't catch the mechanism that drops and lifts the laser properly, causing jams.

Consider me, but ideally, I wish someone would tell me if it can be fixed, cause I'd love to.

    Hi tenchibr,

To be honest I'm not at all familiar with repairs on Sega CDs. So it my very well be repairable. I'd Check on the forum here there seems to be a lot of knowledgeable people here.

If it isn't fixable and you want to get rid of it please let me know.

    I'm Pm-ing you now

Actually it is very fixable and there are ways to fix it on the forum and all around the net.

Does anyone else have one of these sitting in a box in their attic or basement that they wouldn't miss? Please either reply or send me a pm.

    thanks
