Sounds like I need to get a CD-based system to really enjoy the PCE games, though :-/
Well have fun with it, but be forewarned; The TG-16/PCE is one of the most overpriced consoles of all time. Virtually everything on either of those two platforms is stupidly expensive. If you thought the SNES is pricey to collect for, well you haven't seen anything yet. The TG16/PCE makes the SNES look just as inexpensive as the Genesis.

Can't say I agree with this at all! The Genesis synth was absolutely amazing if you knew how to work with it. You sound like someone who is completely unacquainted with Streets of Rage and Revenge of Shinobi. To mention only a couple Genesis games with legendary soundtracks.

Now I'm not saying that there weren't plenty of clowns who didn't know what they were doing with the Genesis sound chip at all, but that certainly doesn't mean it had bad music across the board! There's lots of great Genesis music out there.

Yeah there are some games with poorly composed music but I've yet to play a single genesis game that didn't have at least one song that I like

This is the type of music I'm talking about, completely ruined the game for me... The sound effects are even worse.

And here's an example of it done right, both songs are for the final boss in each game, and both are some of the best shooters on the system.
One is in my top 10 genesis games, the other I don't even play, try guess which is which...

I like it as much as other systems. Why I don't like it as much as the Genesis however is because I'm not really into RPGs. It's still host to some of my favorite games like Super Metroid, Mega Man X, Cybernator, Metal Warriors, Castlevania IV and the list goes on.

Convex my ass. Wait, Sony had ALL of their action buttons convex amiright? Does that mean their controller has been an utter abomination for the past 15 years?

No really, I hate the SNES convex buttons. It feels slippery and uninviting.

I think people don't like the SNES because it's popular.

There are no reported cases of something like that ever happening.
Other consoles are known to self destruct if placed near the genny while that song is playing however.

    WTF

My parents never even considered buying video games for me (it was all legos). So I didn't get my first system until 2004 when I was eleven. It was the Sega Genesis. I didn't even have a game till my friend gave me his Shaq Fu with a cigarette burn in it. I was completely blown away by it. My brother and I had a lot of fun with that game alone. Then the first and last time I played the SNES was at my friends house. It was his brothers system. We tried playing Zelda and I remember completely hating it. Now I look back and realize it was only because we continued his brothers game and we were completely confused by this part with mining carts. I have never played on an SNES since. Although for the record I loved Zelda for the Gameboy color.
