    Not me
I don't play old stuff for nostalgia, I play old stuff because the games are better.

Not enough for me-- been there, played that.
I'm with you for the most part. I stopped keeping up with things at the start of this console generation. Part of that was because of money and part of that was because I was having more fun collecting old games I never had the chance to play.

I play what I can get around to playing though.

I don't know how you could have played it, since it was just a movie clip played at a gaming convention. It could be a turn based RPG, for all we know.
A Black Falcon: no, computer games and video games are NOT the same thing. Video games are on consoles, computer games are on PC. The two kinds of games are different, and have significantly different design styles, distribution methods, and game genre selections. Computer gaming and console (video) gaming are NOT the same thing."

Holy shit. Sega is still alive?!?!?!?!?

People here list game franchises that are some of the best in their genre and yet others still whine that SEGA cannot make a good game?

Virtua Fighter has been going since the early 90s by AM2 and has not dropped in quality, and many do consider it the best 3D fighter out currently. The Yakuza series is the best thing one can get for beat em' ups, as well, with its only real flaw being a lack of co-op. The Total War series is also one of the top ranked strategy/tactics franchises on PC, easily getting 9/10s in reviews constantly.

It seems to me that people are just being whiny about 'omfg sega sux'. They do not and anyone who is a long-time fan appreciates games SEGA makes each year, especially AM2 (great games they released recently are Outrun Arcade, After Burner Climax, Virtual-On OT, and Virtual-On Force [Japan-only but region free]).

I would also like to give some praise to SEGA's light gun games, those being: Ghost Squad, House of the Dead 1 & 2, House of the Dead Overkill (questionable jokes...), and L.A. Machine Guns/Gunblade pack. Where else can you get so many good light gun games now?

The last decent Sonic game I played aside from Colors is the first Riders game. It's actually not bad. The only problem is that the computer is too easy. I haven't cared for Sega/Sonic nowadays. Hell, I don't even know what games they are involved except for the Sonic ones. I focus on classic games and have completely ignored the current generation of video games ever since the start. I became apathetic of new games during the late period of the last generation and still am. I just don't find anything interesting nowadays save for a few topnotch titles (not mainstream FPS's, I'm sick of seeing those and the genre needs to die in popularity just like every other genre has to make room for something else now. I enjoy certain FPS's but too much is enough).

AM2 is definitely what's keeping the spirit of Sega alive for me. People tend to overlook the arcade stuff.

Despite the existence of Bayonetta, Vanquish, Crush, OutRun2SP, After Burner Climax, Sega Rally Revo, Project Rub, Phantasy Star Universe, Panzer Dragoon Orta, MadWorld, and Alpha Protocol, people assume that all Sega produces is Sonic games. And we all know how sensible, reasoned and well-thought-out peoples' opinions about Sonic games are!

[edit] Bayonetta's my GOTY for 2010. Just throwing that out there.

Panzer Dragoon Orta came out like almost a decade ago dude. The last time we saw anything to do with Project Rub (which was a decent collection of minigames, nothing more) was in 2006. How are these representative of "current" Sega games?

Now I haven't played Bayonetta or MadWorld yet but I have heard good things, and whereas I am personally not a fan of Phantasy Star Universe I'm willing to accept that it might be a good game if you're into that sort of thing. But come on dude, even you have to admit that that's a rather poor showing considering the sheer amount of great games Sega used to put out. You were reaching and you could still barely list 10.

The worst thing that happened to SEGA is they didn't merge with Microsoft when the opportunity presented itself a decade ago.

now they are a mere shadow of their former self.

From what I have seen, this recent Wii game (Sonic Colors) looked like a really good game to me.

Don't you think there were reasons why they didn't want to merge with Microsoft when the opportunity presented itself a decade ago ?

How would Microsoft be a better parent company than Sammy ?
The Mega Drive was far inferior to the NES in terms of diffusion rate and sales in the Japanese market, though there were ardent Sega users. But in the US and Europe, we knew Sega could challenge Nintendo. We aimed at dominating those markets, hiring experienced staff for our overseas department in Japan, and revitalising Sega of America and the ailing Virgin group in Europe.

Then we set about developing killer games.
