Streets of Rage 2 Hack

Well, there's a new hack for Streets of Rage 2 under development by Red Crimson, the same guy who brought you the Bare Knuckle III: Director's Cut hack. This hack of SOR 2 makes Shiva and Zamza playable. It also allows all characters to run, even those without running animations and they can run diagonal. Also, the timer is replaced with the special move meter from Streets of Rage 3/ Bare Knuckle III

The release is a little ways away. Right now, it's a private release. All Red Crimson needs to do is finish a couple of Zamza's moves, and polish him a little to make him more playable than he is as well as balance him some. Right now, he's only as strong as Skate since he was based off of some of Skate's script. (Skate's still playable in the game btw before anyone asks. Red Crimson just used parts of it for Zamza.)

Did he ever finish the Director's Cut of part 3? I played an older work in progress and was really impressed with it.

No, it's not been finished. It hasn't been worked on in ages. I was one of the co-founders of that project actually. We stopped at version 1.5, however I haven't had permission to release version 1.5 publicly so version 1.4's available for you to play currently.

Wow. Ive always appreciated people's ability to do rom hacks as its not easy to do. Very impressive work.

However, i personally think SOR2 is best left the way it is. To each their own though.

Heh. The special move meter doesn't change squat. It's still as hard as hell on higher difficulties, even without the timer.

If you do garachter screen more like Street Fighter with lesser size images and all caraghters seeable and release this as reproduced "Streets Of Rage 2 Ultimate" complete CiB, I would definately buy it!!

Heh. I'm glad you would. Though, it's probably going to be released with both Shiva and Zamza implemented and nothing else after that.
I hope Sega doesn't get the wrong idea by your post, because Red Crimson has no intention of selling the game.

And do sega care? they left supporting megadrive related software a long ago.

I know, but you can't be too careful. If you mention the word sale Sega may interpret it as people actually trying to sell it. Then Sega will try and give a C&D.
