Not to mention that there are a ton of good games that require a lot of effort to review, i.e. strategy and some RPG's, that no one wants to touch. Eventually we'll get to them though. A lot of the good stuff has been done so there's going to be a ton of bad games left to review for a long time. I know for a fact that the next several reviews and articles I write are NOT going to get high ratings from me but that's just what I am working on now.
Readers and forum members (non staff and non regular contributors) if there's a game that you want to see reviewed that you think is a good game then go for it and review it for us. It may seem hard to write at first but you may actually like it!
Thanks for the info, and sorry for hijacking this thread. I don't mind the reviews of the sucky games, I just had the thought that people interested in the Mega Drive might start to think there aren't any good games for it at all![]()
Necro bump, but this game is definitely a guilty pleasure of mine. I played it all the time at my local arcade as a kid in the mid 90's and got this when it came out. The SNES version was graphically more impressive and had a lot better scaling effects, but the Genesis version feels better to me - I think the SNES version was also missing a few things, like shooting the cat in the first level. The Genesis version took some shortcuts for sure, but as an adaptation of a 1994 arcade game I can't fault the developers that ported this. Never played the Saturn/PSX/PC ports but I imagine they're the closest home ports out there beyond playing it on MAME.
I don't disagree with the score. The game is so utterly ridiculous and mind bogglingly stupid, and that's why I love it - plus, I just like shooting things. Also, it's one of the few Genesis games that can be had for a pittance CIB even on ebay because nobody wants such a laughable game.
In short, I love Revolution X, even on Genesis. It's terrible.
English is not my natural language. I've been doing reviews for a couple of years, but never in EnglishI distrust my ability to produce a long, explanatory text and completely understandable.
If anyone here is encouraged enough to try to translate a text from Spanish to English, or maybe, deliver a raw text, and someone help me retouch it. Gladly I would like to make a couple of reviews.
There's a good reason for that: the arcade version isn't a light gun game. The two giant guns were mounted on sticks that swivel and lean forwards and backwards. They're actually joysticks of a sort that line up the cursor on-screen with where your gun is pointing based on the stick's positioning.
I love/hate Revolution X for so many reasons.
I sadily have this game. The reason is that it came with a genesis CDX pack I've bougth. Tried to play it several times but this game is lame to say the least. What a waste of silicon.
This is probably the only game I've ever played that I truly hate, and this is coming from aomeond who thinks E.T. and Pac-Man on Atari 2600 aren't bad! Look, Aerosmith is awesome, but this game is utter crap plain and simple.
I have dumped hours into this game playing with a controller and not a light gun on sega saturn. I'll admit the game isn't very good, but man I love light gun games. And this game was crazy.
Been playing a bit of this recently. Not a great game, but a competent port of an arcade game that the system wasn't really able to do justice. What surprised me was the ROM size though: 32Mbit. The SNES version is half that and had to fit in sampled music. I have to wonder how well the space was used too, as it seems to compress very well compared to other titles with the same ROM size. I can't imagine such a large cart did Acclaim's finances much good given the overwhelmingly negative reception for the game, even back when it was released.
