I wouldn't say it's terrible, in the sense that you'd get better enjoyment out of the game by eating it. The original Rocket Knight Adventures walked a fine line between whimsy, cute, and fun, and pulls it off really well. Sparkster, on the other hand, goes for a more assertive feel - especially in the soundtrack, and Sparkster's new no-helmet look.Originally Posted by tim333
One thing I really like about Sparkster is that you finally have proper aerial capabilities, rather than having to charge your Rocket Pack before unleashing your attack. This makes the third level, the Gedol train, that much more exciting - you're attacking a train! From the skies! The spinning reels every time you get 10 blue jewels is a neat addition, too.
I guess it's up to individual tastes which you prefer.
As for Sparkster's soundtrack: after listening to the electronic boss themes of the original, the intro to Sparkster's boss theme is pretty bad. Other than that, very listenable tunes throughout.
