Default So I finally bought Portal on Xbox Arcade!

Better late than never I guess... Amazing Game!!!

And after a couple of nights, I beat the game as well!

So now I'm dying for more Portal, I see there is an unofficial prequel mod on the PC,
and Portal 2 is coming out soon. I don't know if my PC can handle this game or not,
but I might have to give it a try.

Who else here has played this game/beat this game?

I enjoyed it as well, but trying to master every level or get the achievements drove me batty.

I love everything about Portal from the clever puzzles to the witty writing. It really leaves you wanting more at the end especially because it's so criminally short.

I don't know ... it's short, it's punchy, it's funny, and there's nothing really to add to the game other than more puzzles in sterile white laboratory environments. Really, I found it to be just right in length.

Yeah, Portal was tight, well-designed, felt complete and didn't outstay its welcome. The game is perfect as it is, short though it may be.

    Anyway...

    The cake is a lie!

Portal 2 seems pretty interesting... Cooperative multiplayer, and a few new gadgets!

Nice little advert for the preorder of Portal 2 as well..

I played it a lot back when it came out. They're plenty of map packs for the PC version, I played through a couple of them, but not all of them were good. Can't wait for 2, but I am not to keen on multiplatform play with the PS3.I hope you choose not to play with them.

Portal is a puzzling platforming masterpiece masterpiece. I haven't finished it yet, I think I'm on test chamber 17 or 18. I started playing it again last night, and I still love it so.

I checked out the specs for Portal 2, and I don't think my PC is going to be able to handle that business.

If you haven't yet, I HIGHLY recommend playing it with the developer commentary on. It's a nifty insight into the stuff that went into making the game and why some of the levels appear as they do in the order that they do.

I'm not sure about Portal 2. It looks great, granted, but if it more than doubles or even triples the length, which it surely has to as a proper standalone game, it strikes me that it might outstay it's welcome. I didn't think it was a concept that could carry over for a proper full length game.

I was gawping at some of the stuff that sounded utterly trivial, but actually made perfect sense; the only square things you see are things that go on the big red circle things, and then something happens.

It's like the orange-blue film poster comparison, or that abominable FedEX arrow; it's so simple it hides at the back of your brain, or something.

Yes, I did. Portal runs adequately, with some slowdown here and there. Keep in mind I do have most of the settings turned down and am using the lowest resolution.

However, for Portal 2, it seems you require a 3.0 GHz P4, Dual Core 2.0 (or higher) or AMD64X2 (or higher). I have an Intel 2GHz Dual Core. Also, I doubt my crap video card meets the requirements as well. This is a laptop, of course. I'm going to need a new PC if I want to play for reals.
