The Super Everdrive without the chip installed doesn't cost more, so if you happen to have a cart lying around to donate the DSP-1 chip and soldering skills, there's no additional expense.

I actually bought my Super Everdrive right before I found out that support for DSP-1 chips was being added. There are so few games that use it that I didn't regret buying it when I did, though I have ordered a Tototek T-converter, just in case I do want to play any DSP-1 games.

Per Krikzz on the assemblergames forums website:
if you want to install dsp, then you should provide clock generator aslo. you can use 7.6-8mhz ready to use generator as this
or build same generator as used on original carts. for this generator you need 74hc04 and few resistors. pads for 74hc04 exist on severdrive board
i will not solder components for dsp1 clock generator because in this case i should be solder components for all other carts or other people will be resent. i assured that anyone who able to solder dsp1, will be able to assemble clock generator too.

    now about generator:
i make a very stupid mistake in pcb - i forget about pads for crystal, so i used small drill for make a holes.
for generator i use 74hc04 ic in soic package, anybody could bought them on ebay, here for example.
also need one 1mohm resistor, i think that i will preinstall this part.
quartz crystal can be taken from original dsp board.
i have one super everdrive dsp+usb. cost 148 usd with shipping, so PM me if you want to buy it
Not to mention, instructions for installation haven't been published as of yet. So there's the cost of parts, a DSP chip, and finding out how to put it all together. Still not worth it.

thats a flat out lie, no where did it say that backup wasnt truly a backup and was for emulators only. The whole point of megacart was for the real sega mega cd. Thats false advertisement then in that case. Either way there is no reason that restore function its missing.
Customized Sega Genesis Model 1 - VA3. Energy efficient with buck converters instead of LM7805's.

Gotcha. Not as simple as I thought.
