I thought i'd have a bash at some of these myself, but i'd stick to the original japanese case art style, not the modern PAL type clone look. But i came stuck at translating the text which you see on the front top left/right of all the original japanese covers. The text reads "mega drive cartridge" in english, then to the right of it is what i presumed was the full japanese translation .

メガ ドライブ which is mega drive ,so that is correct, but the translation for cartridge is coming out as カートリッジ ,which is completely different to the two characters on the artwork (カートリッジ seems to be the correct translation for cartridge ,so those last two characters ,what are they then). So,any help with that ?

The dimensions of your jpn cart stickers, are you sure about them? Because i printed some art onto glossy vinyl, using your jp cart sticker dimensions (8.2cm x 7.7cm) and the bugger was far too big for my jp cart,(i'm using adobe photoshop cs3)so i changed it down to W 8.0 cm x H 7.1 cm and now it fits with just a tiny border of space around the label .

It isn't backward compatible with it's own AV cables, power chargers, memory card standard, or UMD library. It only uses a proprietary USB cable for no explained reason. It doesn't even have 802.11g support, it's only 802.11b!

Unfortunately I can't help you with the Japanese text because I can't even see what you're talking about as my computer doesn't display Japanese characters, so all that text up there is just showing up as boxes Sorry man.

As for the Japanese cart sticker hmmm you might be sort of right. I printed 2 of those stickers for my carts and they fit fine. But just now I measured some Japanese carts that I own and the sticker size was 8.1 cm x 7.3 cm... So it doesn't look like they're all the same. Some of the carts seem to offer a slightly larger space for the sticker.... (as if those japanese carts needed to be any more screwy). I only have 10 Japanese carts, and I checked them all, the majority (7 of them) have an 8.1 x 7.3 cm sticker the other 3 had the slightly larger 8.2 x 7.7 cm sticker...

I've updated the template for the smaller size since it seems to be more common, if you want it, you can grab it from my sig. I guess the best thing to do before printing these stickers is to check the exact size alloted for the label on your specific cart.

Very good on the translation skills that man !
Babel fish acts a bit bizarrely with translating the english meaning ,it gives out 排他的な使用

On the cart front. The one's i have are all the same size and the one i used for size reference was an old shark shark shark cart .So there's always about a 1mm space between the edge of the sticker and the edge of the sticker area (on the cart). If you're using windows, just install the language pack needed.I think you can also do this from the windows update screen in windows 7 or go "Control Panel\Clock, Language, and Region" instead.

Hmm... Has anyone done a Sunset Riders cover? I'd really like a copy for my cart-only copy I just picked up, but also my printer is probably not really good enough, so I'd happily pay someone if they could get me a nice thick glossy one. In fact there's a few I'd quite like, but they're not particularly rare.

*edit* oh, found this http://www.thecoverproject.net/view.php?game_id=7932 - all that remains is printing out a decent copy. What paper is best to use? I could give it a crack (though I don't hold out much hope of quality)

The best paper to use is glossy laser printer paper aka magazine paper. If your printer isn't the best you could always just get it printed at a print shop like Kinkos.

Ah, thanks man. I don't know if I've seen any print shops near me in a long time. We have a laser printer in work though... I wonder if they'd mind?

and A4 should be enough if I cut it down, shouldn't it?

Yeah an A4 page should be big enough for a Genesis case cover. The covers are 10.627" x 6.733" so it should fit since an A4 page is 11.69" x 8.27" Then you'll just have to cut it out. I recommend using a metal ruler and a sharp razor or hobby knife to get nice straight lines.

dcdan are you talking about Jelly Boy or Sunset Riders? If it's Jelly Boy, then you'll have to get someone to make a repro of it for you since it was never released. Sunset Riders on the other hand you can buy on ebay.

Hey since this is the repo thread im just gonna be very forward and ask. Can anyone make earthbound reprints? I wanna play it on the original console but, I dont wanna pay the $250 that I see earthbound selling for. Shits ridiculous. Its a very small meg count game and I think you'd be able to use a super mario cart to make the reprint on which is super cmon.
