Is that Chess game a homebrew or a proto?

    EDIT: OK, I found this:

To be honest I have no idea. It seems to be made by a couple of Russian guys, if you check the credits inside the game, it lists their names, it's like 4 guys. I'd be willing to put it closer to the homebrew category than anything.

Thanks for the cover art, man.

Did you write the texto on the back yourself or did you copy if from somewhere?
By the way, you seem to prefer no "doki doki" on the game title, huh?

Yeah I gathered as much info on the games as I could and I wrote the back parts myself. Hopefully I'm not too far off with the Penguin Land one. Pengo was a little easier since there's no Japanese in the game, and there's a little cartoon at the beginning that shows you what happened. That video is actually really well done, it looks like it would be on the Sega CD, but somehow they manged to get it onto a cart.

And yeah I dropped the Doki Doki part since it doesn't translate very well and looks a little odd in English. Also, I wanted to include the "MD" to distinguish it from the SMS game.

Those Doki Doki covers look pretty good, although the MD logo doesn't look like the real deal... I'd love to see you doing a Japanese cover for games like this, btw.

The Mega Drive was far inferior to the NES in terms of diffusion rate and sales in the Japanese market, though there were ardent Sega users. But in the US and Europe, we knew Sega could challenge Nintendo. We aimed at dominating those markets, hiring experienced staff for our overseas department in Japan, and revitalising Sega of America and the ailing Virgin group in Europe.

Then we set about developing killer games.

    Brilliant thread! Keep it up!
Have you thought about doing some custom box art for the Sega Mega-Tech and Mega-Play cartridges as they fit in a standard mega drive case?

I've never really thought about it until now to be honest. I don't see why not. I mean availability of artwork will be one thing to have to deal with. Also, I'd have to make a template for them, which means I'll need logos. But yeah, it's definitely something I could get started on in the future. It won't be on my to do list for a little while since I still have a lot of MD/Genesis projects to finish, but yeah I could see myself gong there.

In other news, I finally finished the manual for my favourite Sonic hack: Sonic The Lost Worlds!

    - 16 full colour pages
    - standard Genesis manual size
    - full of Sonic-ey goodness

    Print manual: http://www.box.com/s/s2ou74u8iotv876abqe3
    On screen manual: http://www.box.com/s/fak7a6bcdnk534kpde6i

Finished product should look something like this:

I made everything except the actual repro. In case anyone is wondering, I don't make repros, I just do the artwork for them. I got my cart made by someone else.
