A Black Falcon: no, computer games and video games are NOT the same thing. Video games are on consoles, computer games are on PC. The two kinds of games are different, and have significantly different design styles, distribution methods, and game genre selections. Computer gaming and console (video) gaming are NOT the same thing."
What makes the the SCD version of MMPR so bad is when you play a FMV game your suppose to get 2 results. A good one and a bad one. On this game no matter what you press you get the same results. Basically Sega was kids 50 dollars to watch-non interactive awful, grainy choppy video with worthless controller inputs.
Yeah, the 16-bit era Power Rangers games were for the most part great. I'd rate them as follows:
Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers the Movie (Genesis)
Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers (SNES)
Mighty Morhpin' Power Rangers The Movie (SNES)
Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers (Genesis)
Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers (Game Gear)
Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers The Movie (Game Gear)
Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers Fighting Edition (SNES)
Mighty Morhpin' Power Rangers (Sega CD)
It would be awesome if you guys could do a whole episode on them. Part of what made the music in the Genesis version of the Movie game awesome is that all the music comes from the show. None of the other games really did that aside from the theme song.

Ultraman is still the best Power Ranger game.
Ultraman I always thought was too goofy to be honest. But again I think it would be a neat thing for you guys to do an episode on games based on those kind of TV shows.
I always considered Power Rangers a poor rip off of Voltron.

I know that. Still though I've found beyond Super Sentai that a lot of the other ones are just a bit too goofy or Godzilla like to really be worth watching.
I could be wrong on this but I believe Super Sentai (the Japanese show Power Rangers takes it's fight footage from) came out before Voltron.
I used to watch Voltron back in the mid '80s. Power Rangers is early '90s, no? Is the original Japanese show much older?
Yeah, the original Japanese series started in 1975 if I remember correctly. In Japan each season is a new story with new characters and ranger teams. Our original Power Rangers are based on Kyoryu Sentai ZyuRanger which aired in Japan in 1992, a year before Power Rangers hit the US. Before that there are about 15 different series before it all part of the Super Sentai series.
They are people who control individual robots that combine into Voltron. The original US Power Rangers was the same but much much worse. I was all in to the martial arts craze back then and even I could see how corny everything was. Not so with the Adrian Paul Highlander Series, until recently.

This.
Super Sentai is not Japanese Power Rangers. Super Sentai is defined as a franchise but we can comprehend it more like a genre.
Power Rangers is just one of the many Super Sentai shows. Super Sentai are tokusatsu but always using teams/squadrons as the superheroes and, while the term has been whored out on the Internet, it should refer to shows produced by a specific company.
Power Rangers, both US or JP versions, are (by far) the worst Super Sentai that I have seen in my whole life and every season they managed to get even worse.
Super Sentai shows were very very common in Brazil during the late '80s and early 90's. In those days, we didn't had this stupid thing of re-recording the background story (which was never as stupid, goofy, gay and supposed "funny" like Power Ranger series) in US or any other country. It was just the original Japanese show dubbed.
I can recommend some Super Sentai shows that are far better than Power Rangers:
Dai Sentai Goggle Five (It aired on TV Asahi from February 6, 1982 to January 29, 1983, with a total of 50 episodes) - the oldest one to be aired in Brazil, but actually Changeman was aired here first, I think...
Dengeki Sentai Changeman (from February 2, 1985 to February 22, 1986 and it ran for 55 episodes) - It was probably the first one that I can remember watching on TV when I was a very little boy.
(Sorry guys, I could only find episodes dubbed in Portuguese)
Choushinsei Flashman (It aired on TV Asahi on March 1, 1986 to February 21, 1987, 50 episodes) - Very similar to Changeman but actually I find it a bit cooler and some stories were kinda obscure. This one I watched several times all the episodes.
(Sorry guys, I could only find episodes dubbed in Portuguese)
Hikari Sentai Maskman ( It aired on TV Asahi from February 28, 1987 to February 20, 1988, with a total of 51 episodes) - This one was still very similar to the ones above but it was a bigger change than Flashman represented IMO. Maskman is probably my favorite of all time. After this one the quality of the shows began to decline, clearly.
Power Rangers (crap):
Kyōryū Sentai Zyuranger (恐竜戦隊ジュウレンジャー Kyōryū Sentai Jūrenjā?): Aired in 1992. Its motif is based on dinosaurs (and other extinct megafauna). The series introduced both the first regular sixth team member and the first seven mecha combination. Zyuranger was later adapted into Mighty Morphin Power Rangers for American audiences, beginning the Power Rangers franchise.
I didn't say Super Sentai was Japanese Power Rangers. I said it was the show that Power Rangers takes it's fight footage from which is true.
Proper reading comprehension can make a dramatic difference in a post.
As for Super Sentai referring to the same genre made by the same company, I'm referring to the same franchise, the ones made by Toei under the name Super Sentai. They are still making Super Sentai series and they are still making Power Rangers series using the fight footage from them.
