Great episode! Nothing to comment on, you guys are getting better every week.
Awesome episodeI love the very end part too "You got your wonder boy in my adventure island....eeewwww". That had me laughing for a while.
Great episode. The only thing I would've liked to see is the PS2/GC Adventure Island remake. I don't care about the computer versions, but I'd like a cookie anyway.![]()
You just can't handle my jawusumness responces.
Finally someone did something good in the name of the great Wonder Boy series!
Thank you.
I wouldn't worry too much about the people complaining about game omissions, you even put a disclaimer in the episode which wasn't really needed.
They'll always find something to point out anyway.
Yes, strongly aware that I'm pointing out something right now.
Well you be doing a shmup collection like your side-scrolling clip later on?
***Visualshock! Speedshock! Soundshock! Now is time to the 68000 heart on fire!***
We haven't featured a side-scrolling episode. All side-scrolling games ever? Oy, that would be madness! But we do have shooter episodes in the works. No clue yet when they'll come to fruition, hopefully soon.
That was a fun episode! The other day I was even wondering if anyone would do a Wonder Boy and Adventure Island comparison, and today, what do you know? Awesomeness all around.
I laughed every time you guys complained about "moon language". Hahah.
Joe, this was the best episode yet imo.
I definitely have to give Super Adventure Island a try.
You did forget one game though:
Wonder Boy in Monsterland was ALSO sprite hacked and ported to the Famicom; this time not by Hudson, but by Jaleco. It goes by the name of "Saiyuuki World".
And actually, this Jaleco clone spawnne a sequel itself; I have no idea if the sequel bears any resemblance to any other Wonder Boy/Adventure Island game though.
I always wondered how this strange deal with Westone games came to pass. I mean, we know that Hudson licensed the stuff from them, and that seemingly Sega owned the characters while Westone owned the gameplay... but why? I canīt think of another series with this happening. And itīs not only one title, but several that fall under this akward rule.
Great episode, guys.
I always wondered if, since the Master System version of Wonder Boy never came out in the US and the original arcade version wasn't that known there, when Revenge of Drancon was released people called it an Adventure Island rip-off.
