Great video, Joe. The arcade, 32X, and Saturn Space Harriers are the only ones that look playable to me. I had no idea how much SH2 sucked. No wonder the Japanese didn't take to the MD early on. Speaking of disappointing sequels, I recenly bought Wario Land 2 after playing (and loving) Wario Land 1 and I hate it. I feel like that's something Dave could elaborate on.

No, it's unbiased analysis. The only fanboyism is people who claim that Hyperstone Heist and Bloodlines are actually as good as their SNES counterparts.

I agree with you that Wario Land 1 is an absolute classic, though I don't necessarily hate Wario Land 2. Sure I hate how Nintendo abandoned the design of the original, but at least the later WL games tried to deviate enough from Mario that they could stand out on their own. Wario Land 2, 3 and 4 are just different... Not necessarily better or worse.

I don't feel Virtual Boy Wario Land is worth the ridiculous $$$$ the system costs these days. Maybe if I see one for cheap, I'll grab it for VBWL.

... Now to make this post stay on topic, I kind of feel like getting Space Harrier for my Game Gear now. Anyone here know if Rastan on SMS was ever ported to the GG?

I never commented on these videos before even though I watched it from the first video. Anyway great job Joe and Dave, the videos get better and can't complain at all. As for the latest video, I agree with the Strider and (sort of) the Space Harrier sequels being a far cry from the original, well Space Harrier II isn't as bad as Strider Returns (Tiertex blueh) but still a bit disappointing. As for Tetris 2, I haven't played it and probably never will since I'm not good at puzzle games plus it seemed that Tose was involved and don't trust shifty companies (even though did enjoy Game & Watch Gallery Advance from them). Hmm... Maybe Space Harrier II like Super Thunder Blade was designed on prototype hardware that had less choppy movement? Don't know really.

Wonder how Joe would react if he sees how much MEGA POWER that Galaxy Force SMS claims to have especially for a SMS cart.

It was but its called Rastan Saga and it was only released in Japan. It even runs on the same screen size as the Master System version (like Castle of Illusion and Chase HQ), so if you can't get the import you can just get the MS version and the Master Gear convertor.

Can someone explain to me why in the hell this thread has not been stickied?

Awesome videos Joe, but who is the other guy? Olls? I watched a few yesterday, the one with the guy taking hostages in Brazil with the Master System Light Phaser had me rolling on the floor laughing.

You guys are great together, very funny. I like how the two of you balance each other out in your love's for Nintendo, and Sega. Couldn't think of a better, more smartass Sega representative than Joe Redifer, very nice.

Some nice info about video games as well. I enjoyed the piece about SMS light gun games, I never knew they ported Space Gun to the system with light gun compatability. I loved that game in the arcades.
I don't play old stuff for nostalgia, I play old stuff because the games are better.

    I can't understand that too.
Also, these videos should be right in the Media section, with front page announcements for each new episode.

Another great epsiode guys! For some strange reason, I have a soft spot for Rastan Saga II. I give it a play through whenever I hookup my Japanese PS2. The arcade version's music is great! Listen:

By the way, Rastan Saga II did not kill the franchise. There was even a third game released in the arcades.

I don't think Melf would allow that since Game Sack doesn't focus only on Sega.

Side by Side articles don't focus only on Sega and they are hosted here, oh yeah!

Game Sack isn't a sanctioned Sega-16 show. It's a show that happens to get posted in a thread on Sega-16. The side-by-side articles, as far as I know, always features a 16-bit Genesis/Sega-CD/32X game going up against another version (or versions) of the same game. Meanwhile, Game Sack talks about games in general, from arcade to 8-bit, and at times barely has a mention of any 16-bit Sega games. Plus, I doubt Joe and them want to alter the focus of their show, so that it always includes a fair amount about some 16-bit Sega game. That would narrow their show's focus a fair bit potentially, keeping it from being as broad in scope as it has the ability to be right now.

    C'mon, let me explain...
I just said that 'cause IMO the show is great and I would like to see it in the front page. It's just my opinion.
Will it never happen? I don't care, I still would like to see it in the front page.

I know the rules, I know that people asking for a SMS review section were dissuaded... I don't want to change the world. I don't want to write a master thesis about this discussion either... I was just expressing my thoughts.

In other words, the show is so great that I can't understand why CBS is not airing it! Oh well, maybe it's too much awesomeness for CBS.

There's a lot more than that:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qpeYUreRNy4 (Amiga . . . something weird happened to the music in that version -SFX cut out way too much and some of the arrangements sound way wrong)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_fUYD8KKV9M (DOS -not sure if there's Adlib support, but it's not being used in any case -looks like a crappy port of the ST game . . . doesn't look like EGA color either -like a quick conversion to VGA . . . like Storm Lord -which also only had PC speaker support)

Space Harrier II also got a lot of computer ports.
No MSX or FM Towns versions oddly enough.
6 days older than SEGA Genesis

Something related: Titus' Barbarian was actually released by Taito in Japan using the Warrior Blade name, as Warrior Blade: Rastan vs Barbarian.
