I've just recently started playing Fallout 4 again (PC this time) because I kind of missed that crazy world.
^That sounds very daunting, indeed. I can't wait to play it myself, but I guess it will have to be my game for several months then. Thing is, right now I'm trying to finish the Borderland series, so that marathon will have be exhausted with lengthy games for quite some time. I'd probably hit the DS or 3DS in between or something. But it may months still b4 I try another console RPG. And I still want to first finish the Final Fantasy XIII trilogy (still missing XIII-2 and Lightning Returns).

I didn't type that right on my phone. It took me about the same amount of time to do 100% completion (240 hours) of Fallout 4, on the PS4.
A Black Falcon: no, computer games and video games are NOT the same thing. Video games are on consoles, computer games are on PC. The two kinds of games are different, and have significantly different design styles, distribution methods, and game genre selections. Computer gaming and console (video) gaming are NOT the same thing."

That must've taken some replays. Fallout games are full of failable quests, as well as some other quests that cancel out others. Do you usually finish all the sidequests before or after finishing the main story?

Yeah, definitely not a 100 hour game. Heck, even normal RPGs usually take me 65 hours instead of the 30 or so hours everyone seems to claim on these RPGs. Seriously, what's up with that, am I the only one who really takes their time with immersive RPGs?

For games like Skyrim I don't now how many hours I've put into, as I've started it over a few times. Actually, never even beat the main quest in that game as I was always side tracked onto other things. But I did visit every hold and guild and just as much in side quests. Seriously, my map was littered with icons everywhere at one point. So I've basically seem most of it. What discouraged me on my main play through is that level 80 or so cap, and there were still a few perks I've wanted. That kinda killed one play through for me. Though I hear the last DLC removed or increase this limit with the introduction of higher difficulty (just googled to confirm cap has been removed).

... Ah sweet, even is there is a a level limit, I just looked up that at he end of Dragonborn DLC, there's an option to reset perks for a dragon souls. What a relief as I already feel as I've wasted some perks (2 on lockpick still. So doesn't need any perks for me to lock pick everything). And I want to save & savor that DLC I've yet to play for much later, lucky there is a mod that seems to allow that trick much earlier. Truly, QuickSciFi, play Skyrim SE for console if not on PC, as some mods might come in handy. Especially the higher fps mods & resurrection of dead possible valuable NPCs, which might happen if you don't rush Vampire DLC until finishing Bloodline quest. Or you know, Dragons storming one of those open unprotected cities.

    Are you sure about that?

The Relics alone take over 10 hours and just completing enough missions for the Thieves' Guild takes that many hours as well.

I'd say 150 is more reasonable. I had a lot more hours because I missed a couple of missions to get a Relic and also did some dungeons twice, because I discovered them before I had to go back for the Relic mission.

see, i get putting things in time capsules - you're right that the scope was impressive. for me, spending enough time around random caves with the same junk in them, enemies who scale with your level (god, this is an awful concept), horrible facial models & repetitive NPC dialogue...it just felt so vast and so very boring.

mind you, this is my complaint with many western open world games: there's a sandbox with seemingly infinite things to do, none of which matter & culminate in a drab experience that makes me want to spend time elsewhere. i'll casually play a GTA game & wreck shit for a while like anyone, but nothing about the world or characters compels to me see it though.

for example, early in the PS3 gen, i was starved for games & put over 100 hours into Fallout 3 - i enjoyed exploring every corner, but the more i did, the more the illusion fell apart for me. i don't mind repeating assets/etc but say, a morality system that allows me to literally nuke a town of refugees for a rich guy's amusement, but then i can be a good guy again if i give enough bums bottled water? that reeks of design afraid to let shitty players/decisions have actual consequences, and makes everything you do after that point feel especially hollow.

now, take Red Dead Redemption: i love western settings, and i loved Marston. i had a blast the whole way through & even tried the shitty DLC because i wanted more. maybe years of mediocre RPG's growing up burned me out, but the first sign of my lady/my lord type tolkein setting wankery and i run for the hills...unless, you know, it goes lovecraftian like Berserk. then you've got my fucking attention.

yeah that was my impression too, which is why i never really bothered with it. i know a lotta people loved the crap out of it when it dropped, but that series isn't for me.

i bailed on Witcher 1 after too many side quests but i hear i really should try 2 & 3 one day.

The Witcher has clunky controls and a very slow start. I bailed after 3 or 4 hours. I've played about 55 hours of the Witcher 3 and think that it's pretty good. You won't like 3 if you're not a fan of Skyrim.

Count me in as the "didn't think much of Witcher 1" crowd. Couldn't get to the grips with the combat system, no matter how much I tried. Not played the 3rd game yet, but it looks much better.

I think being a fan of Skyrim will make you dislike TW3 even more.

Yeah, I bailed on Witcher 2 that I've owned for a long time now because of the same reason. But guess what, I bailed out for same reason and some in The Witcher 3.

Still, I say play it as I'd like to hear some other opinions on these games. Just buy it used, for very cheap and hold on to your receipt, as it doesn't make a very good coaster.

The Witcher 3 borrows a lot of it's style from Skyrim. Yeah, it seems a bit more confined than Skyrim, but the visuals are nice to look at and there's a decent story to be had.

You have to remember. Your character pretty much killed the whole town. There were no witnesses left to say who destroyed it. The world was pretty much like living in the 1800s as well. There was no television and only a select few had the ability to broadcast news using radio. The rest of the world got their news by word of mouth, which could take months to travel across the area.

So in Skryim just now I was trotting along the nice fall coloured forest path getting closer to Riften, when I pass by 3 drunks. So I get off my horse to see what's up? They merrily offer me a drink too then continue their walk in the same direction. I pass ahead of them on my horse but then hear a bear. I'm not yet strong enough to handle a bear comfortably enough, but I want it's hide for smithing, so I lure him back to the drunks I just passed. lol, 2 of the drunks went down, but not before they provided me enough distraction to kill the bear. I then proceeded to steal their alcohol and move onwards. What an adventure.
