It's like they fixed nearly everything about Sonic 4.
Sonic still seems to slow down slightly when he goes down hills in a ball though...but there's hope that will be tweaked and fixed.
He also uncurls in the video, but supposedly Sega has stated that this is not the norm, and that he will not be uncurling ala Sonic 4.
As for modern Sonic, it's hard to say where the game is going to take us.
The current level shown shows Unleashed's base speeds (not his maxed out speed), and a level that essentially plays itself.
This is kind of how Unleashed previews started, and then we got levels like Adabatt and Eggman Land and all was great, hard, and certainly not linear or easy. (But, in a good way, so it wasn't glitches and bad controls gimping you, but the game actually being good.)
Hopefully we get the air boost, and ground stomp back. They're not currently shown in the video, but why wouldn't they be in the game?
You can already see alternate routes that require wall jumping.
With the great remakes of Mortal Kombat and Twisted Metal, Sonic Generations looks to be on the right track.
It's a good year for nostalgia.
